Responsibilities
Your Role:
- Support the set up a Hyderabad tax team who will assist with the production of tax deliverables by various tax functions of the global tax group; work closely with Senior Vice President and Citco offices overseas
- Facilitate communication and reporting required as tax leader of Hyderabad tax team and as Line of Business (LOB) representative to CFS within Hyderabad as a cite operation
- Participate in the over-all operational requirements of the global tax team such as holding periodic meetings with tax management team as required; provide periodic reports to Tax director and managing director
- Plan and execute Tax IT developments by directing and coordinating with other departments of Citco
- Ensure effective staff development; coach, train, supervise and appraise performance of staff
- Manage and oversee a team of AVPs, managers, seniors, staff
- Participate in the growing of the team including screening and interviewing candidates
- Maintain internal controls ensuring the Company remains compliant with all regulations
- Review and ensure quality of tax products – work papers, tax returns and all other tax deliverables
- Assist the management and delivering of large projects
- Act as a technical and knowledge resource to the tax department
- Assist in the management of a portfolio of clients including the allocation of projects across the global tax team
- Multi-task and juggle priorities in a highly dynamic, global team environment
- Review, build and improve tax processes, this includes handling tax tool enhancement or other related initiatives
- Develop strategies to solve complex technical challenges
- Build new and existing client relationships and demonstrate knowledge of the industry. Work collaboratively with the client and third party auditors in order to resolve tax related issues faced by the client
- Participate in business development activities to help identify and research opportunities on new/existing clients
- Keep up to date with relevant industry regulatory changes affecting the business operations
Qualifications
About You:
- You have at least 12 years of experience in the alternative investment industry
- Strong software skills
- MS Excel – the successful candidate will be comfortable with formulas, should understand the basics of Pivot Tables and Macros, and be able to navigate and understand workbooks
- In general, candidates should have an intuitive feel and be a quick study for various software applications
- Proficient in Go System Tax RS
- Extensive experience in US tax compliance for hedge/private equity funds is a MUST including exposure in the following areas
- Degree qualified in Accounting or Finance related area and/or studying for a professional accounting qualification
- Preparation and review Form 1065, Schedule K-1s, PFIC statements and related schedules including L, M1, M2 and M3
- Preparation and review of complex international tax forms, particularly Forms 8865, 8858, 8621 and 5471
- Work on issues regarding withholding tax based on Effectively Connected Income and prepare Form 8804, 8805, 1042, 1042-S. Identify foreign/domestic status of partner(s) by analyzing Forms W-8BEN, W-8ECI, W-8IMY and/or W-9
- Perform research of relevant tax laws, regulations and rulings to determine proper tax treatment of issues
- Review FBAR filings (FinCEN Form 114) with the Department of the Treasury
- Work on complex partnership profit/loss allocations for hedge funds and fund of funds
- Review client deliverables. Work closely with tax managers and clients on a daily basis
- Formulate work-papers to support book to tax analysis, tax allocations, and calculations to support K-1 footnotes
- Review all the tax lot testing; dividend income/expense, wash sales, straddles, constructive sales, short sale holding period etc. in order to get to final taxable numbers for the accurate income tax filing
- Instruct classes to newly hired staff regarding tax issues and their treatment
- Strong attention to detail, ability to troubleshoot and solve problems
- Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects, proactive and team player attitude
- Enrolled Agent/US CPA designation is a plus
