Functional Safety Governance Engineer – Center of Competence team

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

• Execute internal safety audits, and functional safety assessments at the highest independence level (I3), ensuring ISO 26262 compliance and global consistency of core FuSa work products.
• Execute Confirmation reviews for FuSa work products like Safety plan, Safety case, Impact Analysis, HARA, FSC, Test concept and others.
• Define, maintain, and continuously improve Functional Safety (FuSa) processes, methods, tools, and templates across the organization in line with ISO 26262.
• Identify and escalate deviations from ISO 26262 to the Management. Manage lessons learned and drive continuous improvement.
• Monitor emerging safety regulations, standards (e.g., ISO 26262, ISO 21448/SOTIF), and trends to proactively protect the organization from future compliance risks.

Key Skills:

• In-depth knowledge of ISO 26262:2018 (Part 2, 3, 4, 6, 8 & 9) and related automotive safety standards and regulations.
• Proven experience conducting confirmation reviews, FuSa audits, and functional safety assessments across system, component, and software levels.
• Strong knowledge of safety analysis methods: FMEA, FTA, Dependent Failure Analysis (DFA).
• Familiarity with product development process areas: requirements management, SYS/SW/HW Engineering, and Verification / Validation.
• Analytical, conceptual, and methodical thinking; strong presentation and moderation skills.
• Intercultural competency and strong communication/networking skills for global team collaboration.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in automotive functional safety, with hands-on exposure to E/E safety projects.
• Must have performed FuSa confirmation reviews and FuSa Assessments in previous experience.
• Certifications:
  • ISO 26262 Functional Safety Engineer (TÜV Rheinland, TÜV SÜD, exida, or equivalent) (Required)
