Overview
The Functional Analyst – Avature (L2) is a mid-level delivery role for professionals who have demonstrated strong foundations in Avature configuration and functional analysis, and who are ready to take on greater ownership across the full delivery lifecycle. This position bridges the gap between hands-on configuration work and consultative delivery — leading working sessions, owning solution design for defined workstreams, and mentoring Associate Analysts on the team.
At this level, TalentOS expects more than execution. Functional Analysts (L2) are expected to think critically about client problems, propose well-reasoned solutions, and take accountability for the quality and completeness of their workstreams from discovery through go-live. Deep Avature expertise is assumed; the ability to apply it independently and communicate it clearly to clients is what defines success.
Key Responsibilities
Requirements Analysis & Discovery
- Lead client working sessions for assigned modules or workstreams, independently facilitating requirements gathering and process discovery
- Elicit, analyze, and document functional requirements, user stories, and process flows with minimal oversight
- Identify edge cases, conflicting requirements, and assumptions early — and resolve them proactively with clients and internal stakeholders
- Translate complex business processes into structured, Avature-aligned functional designs
Solution Design
- Own the functional design for assigned workstreams across CRM and ATS implementations
- Recommend scalable, maintainable Avature solutions with clear rationale — not just what the client asked for, but what will serve them long-term
- Review and validate designs with peers, Application Consultants, and Delivery Managers before presenting to clients
- Identify and escalate design risks or scope creep in a timely and professional manner
Configuration & Build
- Configure Avature entities, workflows, forms, automations, permissions, and pipelines independently
- Build and deliver well-structured, documented configurations aligned to approved functional designs
- Enforce TalentOS configuration standards and naming conventions; contribute to refining them
- Collaborate with Integration Specialists and technical resources on cross-functional build activities
Testing & Validation
- Design and execute functional test scenarios based on requirements and solution designs
- Lead or co-lead UAT planning, preparation, and execution with clients
- Validate configurations against approved designs and clearly document pass/fail outcomes
- Triage defects, distinguish functional issues from scope gaps, and resolve or escalate appropriately
Client Interaction
- Own the client relationship for assigned workstreams — communicate status, risks, and decisions clearly and professionally
- Lead design walkthroughs, demos of configured solutions, and review sessions with stakeholders
- Incorporate client feedback while maintaining Avature best practices and TalentOS delivery standards
- Build credibility with client contacts through demonstrated expertise and reliable follow-through
Team Support & Mentoring
- Guide and review the work of Associate Analysts (L1) assigned to shared workstreams
- Provide structured feedback, catch errors before they reach clients, and model professional delivery behaviour
- Contribute to internal knowledge-sharing, delivery retrospectives, and reusable asset development
Documentation & Delivery Support
- Produce and maintain complete functional design documents, configuration workbooks, and testing artifacts
- Ensure handover materials are accurate, well-organised, and suitable for client or operational use
- Support the development of TalentOS delivery templates and best-practice patterns
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of hands-on Avature experience (CRM and/or ATS), with at least one year in a delivery or implementation context
- Demonstrated ability to independently lead requirements gathering and produce functional designs
- End-to-end experience across at least two full Avature implementation or major enhancement cycles
- Avature certifications: internal employer-delivered certifications required; Avature-delivered certifications strongly preferred
- Solid understanding of recruiting, CRM, and talent acquisition business processes
- Proven ability to manage client interactions professionally and handle ambiguity without escalating everything
- Strong written and verbal communication skills — clear in documentation, confident in working sessions
Preferred Qualifications
- Avature-delivered certifications (Level 2 or higher preferred)
- Experience in a Business Analyst, Functional Analyst, or Implementation Analyst role at an HR technology consultancy or Avature partner
- Exposure to complex Avature build topics: branching workflows, advanced permissions, portal configuration, reporting
- Working knowledge of project management principles — scope, timelines, dependencies, and change management
- Experience with other ATS or CRM platforms (e.g., Workday, iCIMS, Greenhouse, Taleo) for context and comparison
- Experience supporting global or multi-entity recruiting environments
