Votum is building AI infrastructure for the legal ecosystem—automating workflows, unlocking data, and rethinking how legal work gets done. We're early, moving fast, and focused on shipping real products that people use daily.
The Role
This is not a full-stack developer role in the traditional sense. We're looking for a builder—someone who can take a rough idea, turn it into a working product in days, and iterate based on feedback. You'll work directly with founders to design and ship core product experiences from scratch.
If you like clean PRDs and stable requirements, this is not for you. If you like chaos, speed, and ownership, you'll thrive.
What You'll Do
- Build 0→1 product features end-to-end (idea → UI → shipped → iterated)
- Create fast, intuitive interfaces for complex workflows (search, documents, AI outputs)
- Work closely with backend + AI systems and shape how users interact with them
- Make product decisions—not just technical ones
- Ship fast, break things, fix them, and improve continuously
- Obsess over speed, usability, and clarity
What We're Looking For
Must-have
- Strong skills in React / Next.js and Backend/Database frameworks
- High fluency in JavaScript / TypeScript / Python / SQL
- Ability to ship fast without overengineering
- Good taste in UI/UX (you know what feels right)
- Comfortable working with unclear requirements
- Can debug anything and figure things out independently
Strong Signals
- You've built and shipped products (not just worked on features)
- You've worked in a startup or hacked on side projects
- You use tools like Vercel, Supabase, Firebase, etc. to move fast
- You've integrated APIs, LLMs, or data-heavy systems into UI
- You care about real users, not just clean code
- Working and writing clean code with Codex, Claude, etc
Anti-Requirements (Who This Is NOT For)
- You need detailed specs before starting
- You optimize for perfect architecture over speed
- You've only worked in large, structured teams
- You avoid ownership or ambiguity
- You rely heavily on AI Coding agents or Vibe Coding
