Touchstones is an AI-native hiring company. We build role-specific engineering work samples where candidates are allowed to use AI. We capture the work trail and map every piece of evidence to the hiring team's rubric, and a human reviewer makes the call. We've run 850+ candidate screens, growing 145% month over month, and we're backed by Mucker Capital. You'd be one of the first engineers, working directly with the founder.

Location: Remote (India). Full-time, Mid-Senior level.

What you'll do

• Build the candidate workspace: an in-browser coding environment with AI assistance, timeboxing and test running.
• Build the reviewer experience: evidence packets, rubric views, work-trail timelines and the shareable sample reports.
• Build hiring-team tools to author assessments (prompt, criteria weights, trusted tests) and invite candidates.
• Build backend APIs, webhooks and the Verify API, plus the append-only, hash-chained integrity log.
• Work on performance, accessibility and reliability across the stack, with tests and observability.
• Ship end to end, from spec to production, often within a week.

Requirements

• 4+ years building production web apps end to end.
• Strong TypeScript, React/Next.js, Node.js and Postgres.
• Experience designing REST APIs, authentication and multi-tenant data models.
• Comfortable using AI coding tools daily, with a strong eye for verifying their output.
• Ownership, speed and good product taste.
• Able to overlap with US Pacific mornings.

Nice to have

• Supabase, Vercel, or in-browser editors and sandboxes (Monaco, WebContainers).
• Experience with webhooks/HMAC, idempotency or audit logs.
• Previous early-stage startup experience.
• Interest in hiring, developer tools or AI products.

Compensation

• India: competitive, up to INR 55 LPA, plus early-employee equity.
