Duties
- You will build out a new AI-powered web product on top of an existing, production-proven platform. The infrastructure, DevOps pipeline, architecture patterns, and core abstractions are already in place and meant to be reused — your job is to implement new product features, not to design or stand up systems from scratch.
- Concretely, you will: Implement backend API routes, services, and database models by porting and adapting established patterns (FastAPI, SQLModel, Alembic, Celery/Redis) from the reference codebase
- Build the product's primary user-facing frontend — a multi-stage guided journey — using the existing Next.js 15 / React 19 App Router shell, component library, state management, and API-client patterns
- Wire LLM-powered scoring and evaluation logic as plain Python inside a Celery worker, following an established pattern for structured LangChain calls with Pydantic-typed outputs
- Integrate with the team's AI Gateway (Azure OpenAI-compatible) and existing observability tooling (Langfuse tracing)
- Write unit and integration tests following patterns already established in the repo; contribute migrations via Alembic
- You are expected to interact directly with internal product stakeholders and technical leads to understand requirements, translate them into well-scoped implementations, and flag scope or design questions early. You will be delivering production code that routes through an existing CI/CD pipeline (GitHub Actions -> JFrog -> cloud redeploy on merge to main), but may need to contribute to the initial DevOps and Infra setup as well.
Skills
- AI-augmented development mindset is required. You are expected to use AI coding tools actively and fluently throughout your workflow — for code generation, exploration, review, and documentation. The codebase and patterns are designed to be readable and transferable; use every tool available to move fast.
- Solid Python (3.10+) and TypeScript/JavaScript with React and NextJS. Familiarity with Python async patterns (FastAPI, Celery), SQLModel or SQLAlchemy, and Pydantic typing; comfort with React and Next.js App Router.
- Working understanding of microservices and container-based development (Docker / docker-compose). You will use these every day; you will not be designing them.
- Comfort reading and adapting existing patterns rather than inventing new ones — this role rewards developers who recognise a good solution and apply it correctly over those who prefer to build from first principles.
- Familiarity with LLM APIs (OpenAI-compatible), prompt engineering basics, and structured output patterns (e.g. .with_structured_output(PydanticModel) via LangChain) is a strong plus.
- Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL), schema migrations, and basic SQL.
- Ability to communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders; comfort raising questions and flagging blockers early rather than silently working around them.
