We are currently developing Steer Fleet TMS, a comprehensive multi-tenant B2B SaaS platform designed to replace manual processes and automate critical compliance tasks. The platform manages driver qualification files, document expiry tracking, vehicle maintenance schedules, carrier safety monitoring, and regulatory compliance for cross-border fleets operating in Canada and the US. About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Software Developer to join our dynamic team working on the Steer Fleet TMS platform. In this role, you will contribute to an existing, live Next.js 14 codebase, collaborating closely with team members to develop, enhance, and maintain key features. Your responsibilities will include translating detailed specifications into high-quality code, ensuring consistency with established architectural patterns, and delivering scalable solutions. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess over 10 years of overall software development experience, with at least 5 years specializing in the React ecosystem, particularly Next.js with the App Router. Strong expertise in TypeScript is essential, with strict mode enabled and no tolerance for any types. Candidates should have extensive experience working with PostgreSQL, including designing complex multi-tenant schemas, optimizing queries, and managing migrations. Proven proficiency with ORMs such as Prisma (preferred), Sequelize, or TypeORM is required. Additionally, you should have a solid background in building and consuming REST APIs, along with a strong understanding of version control workflows using Git. In terms of front-end skills, expertise in Ant Design 5 is mandatory, along with familiarity with TanStack Query v5 for server state management and strong CSS fundamentals for responsive and component-level styling. On the back-end and infrastructure side, experience with NextAuth v4 for session management, BullMQ with Redis for background jobs, AWS S3 SDK for storage solutions, and Docker for containerization is necessary. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines via GitHub Actions and cloud deployment on AWS EC2 or similar platforms is also required. Experience with AI and machine learning integrations, such as LLM APIs (Claude, OpenAI), prompt engineering, document data extraction, and RAG pipelines, would be considered a plus. Knowledge of PostgreSQL vector extensions like pgvector and rules-based AI systems with explainability layers is advantageous. Nice-to-have skills include experience with multi-tenant SaaS architecture, telematics API integrations, and AWS RDS PostgreSQL deployments. Strong written English skills are essential, as the role involves reading detailed technical specifications and writing clear, concise PR summaries accessible to non-technical stakeholders. The candidate should be comfortable working in a collaborative team environment, following precise requirements, and actively participating in code reviews and pipeline maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain full-stack features utilizing Next.js 14 App Router and TypeScript, ensuring high performance and scalability.
- Design, implement, and optimize Prisma ORM queries against a complex PostgreSQL schema with over 80 tables, supporting multi-tenant data structures.
- Create REST API routes with proper multi-tenant data scoping to ensure data security and integrity across client accounts.
- Build user interface components exclusively with Ant Design 5, maintaining consistency and responsiveness across devices.
- Implement background jobs for expiry reminders and scheduled reports using BullMQ and Redis, ensuring reliable execution and monitoring.
- Integrate AWS S3 for document storage, including signed URL generation for secure access, and implement transactional email workflows via Resend or equivalent APIs.
- Write clean, maintainable TypeScript code adhering to strict mode standards, with zero tolerance for any types.
- Participate in the review process by submitting GitHub Pull Requests with clear, plain-English summaries and responding to feedback within 24 hours.
- Contribute to the CI/CD pipeline maintenance using GitHub Actions and Docker, ensuring smooth deployment processes.
- Collaborate with team members to identify areas for system improvement, propose solutions, and implement best practices.
- Engage in continuous learning and stay updated on emerging technologies relevant to the platform and industry.
