Description
We are partnering with an established oil trading firm with a strong international trading network. Due to continued growth in its commercial operations business, they are seeking a Trading Operator to support Fuel Oil and bunker trading operations.
Role
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Trading Operator will be responsible for managing day-to-day trading operations in accordance with contractual terms and trader instructions. The role will coordinate closely with traders, shipping, inspectors, agents, terminals, counterparties, contracts, trade control, finance operations and credit teams to ensure smooth execution of loading and discharge activities. Responsibilities include appointing inspection companies, monitoring cargo movements, ensuring operational requirements are completed accurately, maintaining timely system updates, and keeping proper operational records for legal, fiscal and reporting purposes. The incumbent will also support cargo and voyage claims, including demurrage records, ensure compliance with internal policies and operating standards, and work closely with the Shipping team to ensure alignment with shipping requirements.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will hold a Degree in Maritime Studies or a related discipline. A minimum of 3 years of experience in trading operations, preferably within bunkers, fuel oil or related commodities is required. Strong communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills are essential. The successful candidate should be independent, proactive, adaptable and willing to develop exposure across different oil products.
