Job Description

Salesforce FSL Technical Lead

Role Summary

The Salesforce FSL Technical Lead bridges solution architecture and hands-on delivery. This role owns the technical execution of Field Service Lightning workstreams — leading a team of developers, building complex FSL configurations and customisations, and ensuring the solution is delivered with quality, on time, and to spec. The Technical Lead is the primary escalation point for development challenges within the team and works closely with the Technical Architect to translate design intent into production-ready solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Delivery

  • Lead day-to-day technical delivery of FSL workstreams including configuration, customisation, integration development, and testing.
  • Design and develop FSL configurations: Work Order lifecycle, Service Territory management, Scheduling Policies, Resource Availability, and Dispatcher Console customisations.
  • Build Apex classes, triggers, batch jobs, and queueable processes supporting FSL business logic.
  • Develop Lightning Web Components (LWC) for FSL Mobile and dispatcher experience enhancements.
  • Build and maintain integration pipelines between FSL and external systems (ERP, IoT, billing platforms) using REST APIs and platform events.
  • Own DevOps pipeline: manage CI/CD processes, sandbox refresh strategy, deployment packaging, and release management.
  • Team Leadership
  • Lead and coordinate a team of 4-8 Salesforce developers and configurators across onshore/offshore locations.
  • Conduct code reviews, enforce coding standards, and provide hands-on technical guidance to junior team members.
  • Break down user stories into technical tasks; estimate effort and manage team velocity against sprint commitments.
  • Identify and resolve technical blockers; escalate architectural concerns to the Technical Architect.
  • Quality & Governance
  • Ensure unit test coverage meets or exceeds project standards (minimum 85% Apex coverage).
  • Drive FSL performance testing for scheduling optimization — throughput, appointment booking, and mobile sync latency.
  • Maintain technical documentation: low-level design documents, data flow diagrams, and runbooks.
  • Participate in sprint reviews, retrospectives, and architecture checkpoint sessions.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Act as the technical point of contact in daily scrum and client working sessions.
  • Translate business requirements into detailed technical specifications in collaboration with functional consultants.
  • Support UAT by triaging defects, providing root cause analysis, and coordinating fixes.
  • Required Skills & Experience
  • 7+ years of overall IT experience, on the Salesforce platform.
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience delivering FSL implementations including scheduling engine configuration and mobile setup.
  • Strong Apex development skills: triggers, batch processing, queueable, future methods.
  • Proficiency in LWC and Aura component development for FSL custom UI.
  • Experience building REST/SOAP integrations, OAuth flows, and Salesforce Connected App configuration.
  • Solid understanding of FSL optimization rules, work rules, and scheduling policy tuning.
  • Hands-on experience with Salesforce DX, Git-based source control, and CI/CD tools (Copado, Flosum, or equivalent).
  • Experience leading small-to-medium development teams in an Agile/Scrum delivery model.
  • Certifications
  • Required:
  • Salesforce Certified Field Service Consultant
  • Salesforce Certified Platform Developer I
  • Preferred:
  • Salesforce Certified Platform Developer II
  • Salesforce Certified Application Architect
  • Salesforce Certified Administrator
  • Behavioural Competencies
  • Strong ownership and accountability for delivery outcomes.
  • Clear, direct communicator comfortable in client-facing working sessions.
  • Detail-oriented with a quality-first approach to code and configuration.
  • Proactive problem solver who escalates early and resolves decisively.
  • Collaborative team player who elevates the capability of those around them.
