As a React Developer, you'll build and maintain the user-facing components of web applications, delivering interactive, accessible, and visually engaging experiences. You'll adhere to agreed frontend architecture and system design, partnering closely with the Lead React Developer to ensure reliable performance across devices and browsers, while meeting high standards for usability, accessibility, and maintainability.

Key responsibilities

- Build and maintain React user interfaces using JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS, following established patterns and team standards.

- Implement assigned parts of key user journeys, focusing on correctness, performance basics, accessibility, and clean, readable code.

- Use and contribute to existing component libraries by adding small enhancements, fixing bugs, and following design system guidelines.

- Debug and resolve straightforward issues in existing codebases (UI defects, layout problems, minor functional bugs) with support from senior engineers.

- Ensure responsive behaviour across common screen sizes and verify changes in agreed target browsers/devices.

- Apply accessibility fundamentals (semantic HTML, labels, focus states, keyboard navigation) and use ARIA only when needed and guided by standards.

- Collaborate with product, UX/UI, backend engineers, and QA to clarify requirements, raise risks early, and deliver features end-to-end.

- Write and maintain unit/component tests for new work, and follow CI/CD pipelines (fixing build failures, addressing linting/type errors).

- Participate in code reviews by responding to feedback, learning team conventions, and gradually contributing constructive review comments.

- Document changes (README updates, component usage notes) and contribute to team ways of working through continuous improvement suggestions.

Skills & Experience

• 6 to 8 yrs of hands-on experience building web applications or features using React and modern frontend tooling
• Good working knowledge of JavaScript (ES6+) and basic familiarity with TypeScript (able to read and write typed components with guidance).
• Solid fundamentals in HTML5 and CSS3, including responsive layouts and common modern CSS patterns (Flexbox/Grid), plus basic understanding of browser APIs.
• Ability to debug and improve existing code with support (fixing UI/layout issues, addressing simple defects, making small functional enhancements).
• Understanding of core frontend concepts such as component structure, props/state, and introductory state management patterns (Context, basic Redux usage is a plus).
• Awareness of performance basics (avoiding unnecessary re-renders, sensible component composition) and willingness to learn deeper optimisation techniques.
• Familiarity with accessibility fundamentals and inclusive UI practices (semantic HTML, keyboard navigation, basic ARIA; exposure to WCAG is a plus).
• Exposure to testing and code quality practices (for example: Jest/React Testing Library basics; willingness to learn integration/e2e testing).
• Clear communication skills, openness to feedback, and ability to collaborate with designers, engineers, and product partners in a team environment.
