About the Role
This role owns the front-end experience for an AI camera app built for creators. You will shape the user journey from live camera preview to AI-assisted overlays and reel or shot sequence flows, while keeping the product responsive, intuitive, and production-ready. The work goes beyond implementation: you will make architectural choices, evaluate frameworks and libraries, and decide how to balance visual quality with performance. Success means turning early product ideas into a smooth experience that feels fast, useful, and dependable for real users.
Key Responsibilities
- Build the complete front-end experience for the camera and AI product from first release through future iterations, ensuring the interface is cohesive, responsive, and ready for real-world creator workflows.
- Design and deliver smooth camera UI and UX that keeps interactions intuitive under live conditions, with a focus on clarity, speed, and low-friction content capture.
- Implement live camera preview screens, AI overlays, and reel or shot sequence flows so creators can move through core tasks without lag or confusion.
- Optimize rendering and interaction performance to support low latency and high FPS, protecting the camera experience from visual stutter or responsiveness issues.
- Work directly with a non-tech founder to translate product ideas into concrete front-end decisions, reducing ambiguity and keeping execution aligned with product intent.
- Make independent decisions on UI architecture, frameworks, libraries, and performance trade-offs so the product can move quickly without sacrificing stability or maintainability.
Essential Skills & Technologies
- Strong hands-on experience with React Native, Flutter, or native iOS and Android development, with the judgment to choose the right approach for a product that depends on speed and responsiveness.
- Experience working with camera APIs such as AVFoundation or CameraX, with an understanding of how to build and stabilize live capture experiences in production environments.
- Practical knowledge of real-time rendering and animations, especially where visual polish must coexist with high-performance interaction and minimal latency.
- Understanding of UI and UX patterns for content creation apps, including the expectations creators have for framing, capture flows, and fast iteration.
- Experience integrating AI APIs such as pose detection or object tracking, with enough product awareness to surface useful overlays without creating distraction or delay.
- Strong performance optimization skills for lag-free camera experiences, including awareness of rendering bottlenecks, responsiveness issues, and frame-rate trade-offs.
Additional Plus
- Experience building camera apps, video apps, or creator tools, especially where product quality depends on seamless capture and edit-adjacent workflows.
- Familiarity with OpenCV, MediaPipe, or TensorFlow Lite, particularly if you have used them to support real-time vision or mobile inference use cases.
- Experience with reels or short-form video workflows, including sequence-based capture patterns and creator-facing interaction design.
