Healthcare Ophthalmology / Eye Care clinical services. On-site clinical and surgical role focused on delivering high-quality outpatient and operative ophthalmic care, with emphasis on cataract and general ophthalmology services in a district hospital setting (Kadur, Karnataka).
Primary Title: Consultant Ophthalmologist (MS/DO/DOMS) - Fresher
Role & Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive outpatient ophthalmology clinics: history-taking, slit-lamp and fundus examinations, and treatment planning for cataract and common anterior/posterior segment conditions.
- Perform and assist in cataract surgeries (phacoemulsification and SICS) and minor ocular procedures, maintaining theatre protocols for sterilization and patient safety.
- Undertake diagnostic workups using OCT, visual fields and fundus imaging; interpret results and integrate findings into management plans.
- Provide post-operative follow-up, manage complications, and perform YAG capsulotomy when indicated.
- Document clinical encounters accurately in the hospital record system and communicate care plans clearly with patients and caregivers.
- Collaborate with nursing, optometry and admin teams to maintain clinic flow, triage referrals and support community screening/outreach activities.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
- MS / DO / DOMS in Ophthalmology (completed postgraduate qualification)
- Fresher or newly qualified ophthalmologist with clinical exposure in cataract surgery and outpatient care
- Proven ability to perform slit-lamp examination and indirect ophthalmoscopy
- Hands-on experience with phacoemulsification or SICS and basic intraocular procedures
- Familiarity with IOL power calculation and post-operative management
- Competence in using OCT and visual field testing for clinical decision-making
Preferred
- Short fellowship or structured training in phacoemulsification
- Exposure to EMR / hospital information systems
- Experience or training in pediatric ophthalmology or basic retina diagnostics
