The Opportunity
We are currently looking for a Dry Bulk Freight Analyst to join a leading organisation within the dry bulk shipping sector in Singapore.
This is an excellent opportunity for an analytical and commercially minded professional who has a strong understanding of the dry bulk freight market, vessel supply and demand, commodity flows and freight dynamics.
You will play a key role in providing market intelligence and analytical insights to support commercial decision-making across the dry bulk business.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyse the global dry bulk freight market, including Capesize, Panamax, Supramax/Ultramax and Handysize segments.
- Track vessel supply, demand, fleet movements, newbuilding deliveries, scrapping and tonnage availability.
- Analyse global commodity flows including iron ore, coal, grains, bauxite, alumina and other major dry bulk commodities.
- Produce daily, weekly and monthly freight market reports and commentary.
- Monitor freight indices, fixtures, time charter rates, voyage rates and market trends.
- Develop and maintain market models, forecasts and analytical tools.
- Conduct analysis of vessel positioning, trade routes, tonne mile demand and regional market dynamics.
- Work closely with chartering, trading, operations and commercial teams to provide actionable market intelligence.
- Identify emerging market trends and potential commercial opportunities.
- Research macroeconomic, geopolitical and commodity market developments that may impact dry bulk freight markets.
- Present findings and recommendations clearly to senior stakeholders.
Requirements
- 1-3 years of experience in dry bulk shipping, freight analysis, shipbroking, chartering, research, trading or a closely related maritime role.
- Strong understanding of the dry bulk freight market and shipping fundamentals.
- Good knowledge of major dry bulk vessel segments and global trade routes.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Experience working with market data, freight indices and shipping databases.
- Strong Excel skills experience with Power BI, Python, SQL or other analytical tools would be advantageous.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Commercially minded with the ability to translate data into meaningful market insights.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and highly commercial environment.
