About the job
Remote | Freelance | Flexible ongoing collaboration | Media & Entertainment
We're hiring a freelance Video Editor to support a growing short-form nightlife interview series exploring the best nights out in cities through the eyes of DJs, artists, creatives and people shaping music culture.
This role is ideal for someone who confidently edits in CapCut Desktop and understands how to create engaging, fast-paced social content with strong pacing, personality and visual rhythm. The content blends documentary storytelling with nightlife internet culture — authentic, stylish and social-first.
The ideal editor can take raw interview footage, reference edits and creative direction, then build polished but editable drafts that can still be refined internally afterwards. If you enjoy creating culturally relevant content that feels immersive rather than overly polished or corporate, this could be a great fit.
About The Role
We are looking for a culturally aware and creatively driven freelance Video Editor to support the ongoing production of short-form interview content for social platforms. You'll work closely with the creative team to transform raw footage into engaging edits that feel dynamic, immersive and social-first.
This is a highly collaborative role where you'll be expected to interpret creative notes, understand the tone of the brand and deliver organised, editable project files that maintain flexibility for future revisions.
Responsibilities – What you'll be doing:
- Editing interview-led short-form content for social platforms
- Incorporating venue footage, external B-roll and social clips into edits naturally
- Creating engaging hooks, pacing and transitions designed for audience retention
- Producing clean subtitles, captions and text overlays
- Organising project files, timelines and assets clearly within CapCut Desktop
- Delivering fully editable CapCut project files alongside export-ready versions
- Applying creative direction and reference edits while maintaining a strong editorial instinct
- Working with nightlife and low-light footage confidently
- Collaborating closely with the creative team on feedback and revisions
- Ensuring edits feel authentic, stylish and culturally relevant rather than overly polished
Requirements – What we're looking for:
We think the right candidate will tick most of the following boxes:
- Strong working knowledge of CapCut Desktop
- Experience editing short-form social content
- Excellent understanding of pacing, hooks and retention-focused editing
- Ability to edit conversational content naturally and rhythmically
- Strong instinct for music culture and visual storytelling
- Comfortable incorporating external B-roll, Instagram clips and TikTok footage into edits
- Strong attention to detail with subtitles, overlays and visual timing
- Ability to manage multiple edits efficiently and meet deadlines consistently
- Comfortable working independently in a remote freelance setup
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Bonus Skills – Nice to have:
- Experience using AI-assisted editing tools
- Ability to remove text or watermarks from footage cleanly
- Audio cleanup and dialogue enhancement experience
- Colour correction and grading experience
- Documentary, nightlife or culture-focused editing experience
- Experience working with creators, music brands or entertainment-focused content
Creative Style
The editing style should feel cultural, stylish and social-first — blending documentary storytelling with nightlife internet culture. The content should feel immersive, energetic and authentic rather than overly commercial or corporate.
Editors should have a strong understanding of rhythm, atmosphere and how to create emotionally engaging short-form content that performs well across platforms.
