About DIYguru

DIYguru Mobility Pvt. Ltd. is India's largest ASDC-certified EV skilling organization, with 50,000+ professionals trained, 52 certified programs, 528+ corporate partners, and an academic partnership with IIT Jammu (I3C). We deliver corporate, institutional, and government training programs across India, UAE, Germany, Malaysia, and Australia in Electric Vehicles and Future Mobility technologies.

About the Role

We are hiring an expert freelance trainer to deliver a comprehensive, project-driven corporate training program on Motor Control Development for practicing automotive engineers at a client site in Pune. The objective of the program is to enable participants to independently contribute to motor control algorithm development, hardware optimization, system integration, and complete motor drive development — combining theoretical instruction with hands-on labs, real hardware, and real-world debugging.

You will represent DIYguru as the lead technical trainer for this engagement and work closely with our L&D team on curriculum finalization, lab setup, delivery, and assessment.

Training Scope You Will Deliver
  1. Motor Fundamentals – PMSM theory, hub motor construction, electrical vs. mechanical angle, torque production, dq model
  2. Power Electronics – Three-phase inverter, MOSFETs, gate drivers, current sensing, thermal concepts
  3. Motor Control Theory – Clarke/Park transforms, dq control, flux and torque concepts
  4. PWM & SVPWM – PWM methods, SVPWM sectors, duty cycle generation
  5. Current Sensing & ADC – 1/2/3-shunt sensing, ADC synchronization, offset calibration
  6. FOC Library Development – Math library, PI controllers, anti-windup, current loops, SVPWM integration
  7. Rotor Position Feedback – Hall sensors, encoder interface, electrical angle generation, sensorless control
  8. Speed & Torque Control – Cascaded speed/current loops, PI tuning, bandwidth concepts
  9. Motor Parameter Identification – Resistance, inductance, back-EMF, inertia, friction identification
  10. System Features – State machine, startup alignment, speed/torque limiting, fault manager
  11. Protections – Overcurrent, overvoltage, undervoltage, overtemperature, stall, overspeed, EMI/EMC
  12. Debugging & Measurements – Oscilloscope usage, gate signals, current measurements, control verification
  13. Capstone Project – Complete PMSM/hub motor controller with FOC, speed control, and protection validation
Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver theory sessions, hands-on labs, and guided project work across all 13 modules
  • Co-develop the detailed session plan, lab exercises, and assessment framework with DIYguru's L&D team
  • Guide participants through firmware development on real motor control hardware (MCU + inverter + PMSM/hub motor test bench)
  • Mentor participants during the capstone project: building, tuning, validating, and debugging a complete FOC-based motor controller
  • Conduct evaluations and provide structured progress reports and final outcome documentation
  • Participate in a technical presentation/discussion with the client prior to program kickoff
Required Experience & Skills
  • 6+ years of hands-on industry experience in motor control / motor drive development (automotive or e-mobility strongly preferred)
  • Proven experience developing FOC algorithms from scratch (not only vendor libraries): Clarke/Park transforms, current loops, SVPWM, sensorless techniques
  • Strong Embedded C skills on motor-control MCUs (e.g., TI C2000, STM32, Infineon AURIX/XMC, NXP S32K or similar)
  • Deep familiarity with power electronics: inverter design, gate drivers, current sensing topologies, thermal management
  • Practical lab expertise: oscilloscope-based debugging, gate signal analysis, current probe measurements, control loop verification
  • Experience with PI tuning, motor parameter identification, and protection/fault-management implementation
  • Prior experience delivering corporate/professional training, mentoring, or teaching to working engineers
  • Excellent communication skills in English (Hindi/Marathi a plus)
Good to Have
  • Exposure to automotive standards and practices (ISO 26262 awareness, AUTOSAR/non-AUTOSAR environments, MISRA C)
  • Experience with hub motor / 2W-3W EV traction systems
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink-based motor control modeling and code generation
  • Published work, open-source contributions, or training portfolios in motor control
Engagement & Compensation
  • Contract/freelance engagement with per-day or per-module professional fees (commensurate with experience — please share your expectations)
  • Travel/local logistics support for on-site delivery in Pune as applicable
  • Opportunity for ongoing engagements across DIYguru's corporate, institutional, and international training programs
