Freelance Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

We are looking for an experienced Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) with strong hands-on expertise in Playwright, TypeScript, API automation, and SQL validation. The ideal candidate should be capable of designing scalable automation frameworks rather than simply writing or modifying test scripts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain UI and API automation tests using Playwright and TypeScript.
• Design and enhance reusable automation frameworks, fixtures, API clients, and utilities.
• Automate testing for Angular applications and Java-based REST APIs.
• Integrate and execute automated test suites through Jenkins pipelines.
• Perform backend data validation using Oracle SQL.
• Conduct exploratory, functional, integration, regression, and manual testing.
• Analyze test failures using Playwright traces, application logs, network activity, and API responses.
• Identify and resolve flaky, redundant, and inefficient automated tests.
• Participate in code reviews and establish automation coding standards.
• Collaborate with developers, product owners, and QA teams to identify quality risks.

AI-Assisted Quality Engineering:

• Use GitHub Copilot and approved AI tools to generate and improve automation scripts.
• Leverage AI to identify missing test scenarios, edge cases, and negative test paths.
• Use AI to accelerate test-data creation, SQL queries, and API validation.
• Analyze logs, stack traces, and automation failures using AI assistance.
• Review and validate AI-generated code for accuracy, security, and maintainability.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Strong hands-on experience with Playwright and TypeScript.
• Excellent TypeScript programming fundamentals.
• Experience building and maintaining scalable automation frameworks.
• Experience testing Angular-based web applications.
• Strong API automation and testing experience with Java-based REST APIs.
• Knowledge of HTTP, REST, JSON, authentication, and negative API testing.
• Experience with Oracle SQL and backend database validation.
• Hands-on experience with Jenkins or other CI/CD tools.
• Familiarity with Git, Bitbucket, and collaborative development workflows.
• Experience with exploratory, functional, regression, and integration testing.
• Working knowledge of GitHub Copilot or other AI-assisted development tools.
