We are looking for an experienced Network Security Engineer / WAF Analyst for a freelance/contract engagement supporting enterprise client environments.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in Next-Generation Firewalls, Cloudflare WAF, API Security, DNS, and Terraform-based automation.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day Next-Gen Firewall administration, policy management, rule tuning and health monitoring.
• Manage Cloudflare WAF operations, including API security and DNS.
• Monitor WAF platform health, coverage, rule effectiveness and security incidents.
• Perform WAF zone migrations, including DNS cutover, testing and validation.
• Develop automation using Terraform and scripting to improve WAF operations.
• Tune WAF rules, investigate false positives and maintain policy hygiene.
• Support security incidents, changes and project activities with Network Security, DevOps and IT teams.
• Develop dashboards and security metrics/KPI reports.
• Maintain security documentation, configuration baselines and change records.
• Develop and maintain WAF security standards and architecture.
• Provide technical support during security audits.
• Work with security vendors to troubleshoot issues and recommend solutions.
• Apply OWASP Top 10, API security and modern web application security principles.
• Support implementation of Zero Trust security models.

Required Qualifications

• Cybersecurity/network security experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Cloudflare WAF.
• Strong hands-on experience with Terraform.
• Experience with NGFW and enterprise WAF technologies.
• Experience with WAF rule tuning and false-positive handling.
• Knowledge of Azure cloud services and applications.
• Strong understanding of OWASP Top 10 and web application threats.
• Knowledge of API security principles.
• Experience working with DevOps, Network Security and IT teams.
• Strong networking and cybersecurity fundamentals.
• Excellent troubleshooting, documentation and communication skills.

Preferred

• CISSP or relevant Network Security / WAF / Cloud Security certification.
• Experience with Zero Trust architectures.
• Experience developing WAF security standards and architecture.
• Experience with security automation and scripting.
