Role Overview

Nexenova Studios is looking for a Freelance Audio Engineer to support our game development projects. The role involves creating, editing, mixing, and implementing high-quality audio assets across different stages of game production.

The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of audio production and sound design, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with designers and developers to deliver audio that enhances gameplay and the overall player experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Record, edit, process, and mix sound effects, dialogue, Foley, and ambient audio for game projects.
  • Set up and operate microphones, recording equipment, and audio systems as required.
  • Create and refine sound assets that complement gameplay, environments, characters, and narrative elements.
  • Edit, layer, process, and mix audio assets to achieve the desired creative and technical quality.
  • Test audio assets within game builds and identify issues related to playback, timing, levels, and implementation.
  • Collaborate with game designers, developers, and other creative teams to understand and execute audio requirements.
  • Troubleshoot basic audio and AV-related issues during recording, testing, and implementation.
  • Maintain organized audio asset libraries, project files, and workflow documentation.
  • Ensure audio assets meet required technical specifications, quality standards, and project timelines.
  • Incorporate feedback and make necessary revisions throughout the development process.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Strong foundational knowledge of Audio Engineering and Acoustics.
  • Practical experience with microphones, recording equipment, and recording techniques.
  • Proficiency in Sound Design, including creating, editing, layering, processing, and mixing audio.
  • Understanding of AV systems, signal flow, audio setup, and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in at least one Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) for professional audio editing and mixing.
  • Ability to work with and manage recorded and in-game audio assets.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high audio quality.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage deliverables and deadlines independently.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with designers, developers, and other stakeholders.
  • Relevant education, coursework, or professional training in Audio Engineering, Music Production, Sound Design, Acoustics, or a related field is preferred.
  • Prior experience in game audio, interactive media, animation, or media production will be an advantage.
