Role Overview

As Founding Head of Engineering, you will own and build CareCaller's technical foundation.

You will design and evolve system architecture, write production code regularly (this is not optional), own reliability and scale, and lead a small, high-output startup engineering team.

You will work directly with the founder and have real ownership over how the system is built and scaled.

What You'll Be Responsible For

• Design backend architecture, services, and data models

• Make pragmatic tradeoffs between speed, reliability, and scale

• Actively implement and review core system components

• Design and implement AI orchestration frameworks for production systems

• Build and maintain state-machine–based or graph-based agent workflows

• Own orchestration logic for LLM-driven decision-making and control flow

• Own uptime, monitoring, alerting, and incident response

• Design systems that degrade gracefully and recover fast

• Own cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and deployment workflows

• Design reliable integrations with telephony, AI, and partner systems

• Build retry, fallback, and failure-handling mechanisms

• Lead and mentor a small startup engineering team

Required Background

• 5–10 years total engineering experience

• Previously led engineering at an early-stage startup (Seed–Series A)

• Strong backend and systems experience

• Hands-on experience designing and implementing AI orchestration frameworks

• Comfortable owning architecture, infrastructure, and production end-to-end

• Proven ability to build, ship, and operate systems used by real customers

Strong Plus

• Experience building voice AI systems in production (Text-to-Speech, Speech-to-Text, real-time conversational AI)

• Experience operating AI systems under latency, reliability, and cost constraints
