Zoffer (an angel funded startup) is building the accounting autopilot for India's 63M MSMEs. Forward a bill on WhatsApp AI extracts it books updated in Zoho automatically. No manual entry. No accountant chasing receipts.
We're live in beta with real users. Paid launch is May 1. We need someone to own the tech, not just write code, but lead, decide, and ship.
You'll be the most senior engineer in the room. Founding engineer title, equity on the table, and direct line to the founder.
What you'll own:
- Full product: backend, frontend, database, deployments, infra
- A dev team of 3 engineers: you lead, you're accountable
- Architecture decisions: you're the CTO-in-practice
- AI pipelines: OCR, LLM-powered extraction, chat assistant
- Third-party integrations: WhatsApp (Twilio) API, Zoho Books API, Razorpay
Our stack:
- Python + Flask (backend)
- React + TypeScript (frontend)
- PostgreSQL
- LangChain + OpenAI + Gemini (AI pipelines)
- Twilio, Zoho Books API
Nice to have:
- RAG pipelines and vector search
- Agentic AI (multi-step tool use, autonomous workflows)
- Previous early-stage startup experience
This role is for you if:
- You have 3+ years of full-stack experience with real production deployments
- You're strong with Node.js/TypeScript, React, and PostgreSQL
- You've designed schemas, written migrations, and optimized queries - not just used an ORM
- You ship fast, debug faster, and don't wait to be told what to do
- You're comfortable leading a small team and holding them accountable
- You thrive in ambiguity - we're 5 people, pre-revenue, building fast
Nice to have:
- AI/LLM integration experience (prompt engineering, streaming, tool use, RAG)
- WhatsApp API or messaging platform integration
- Previous early-stage startup experience

- You need someone to write detailed tickets before you start
- You want clear 9-to-5 boundaries at an early-stage startup
- You've never deployed anything to production yourself
