Illumine is a profitable Series A childcare and early education platform serving 3,000+ centers across 50+ countries. Our platform helps childcare operators manage enrollment, billing, attendance, parent communication, assessments, and daily operations from a single system.
AI is already part of our product roadmap, and we're looking for our first dedicated AI Engineer to help make it a core capability across the business.
About the Role
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on delivering real business impact through AI.
You'll identify opportunities, build AI-powered solutions, and drive automation across Product, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and Operations. You'll work with LLMs, AI agents, automation tools, and company data to solve meaningful problems and improve efficiency at scale.
What You'll Do
- Build AI-powered product features using OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, and similar platforms.
- Develop AI agents, copilots, and workflow automations for customers and internal teams.
- Design and implement RAG systems across product, support, and knowledge workflows.
- Automate repetitive business processes across departments.
- Build evaluation, monitoring, and observability systems for production AI applications.
- Rapidly prototype, test, and deploy AI solutions that deliver measurable outcomes.
What We're Looking For
- 3–8 years of software engineering experience.
- Strong Python and backend engineering skills.
- Experience building and deploying applications powered by LLMs.
- Solid understanding of prompt engineering, AI agents, RAG, embeddings, vector databases, and modern AI tooling.
- Strong product mindset and business acumen.
- Ability to independently drive projects from concept to production.
Nice to Have
- Experience with LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, CrewAI, AutoGen, or similar frameworks.
- Familiarity with Pinecone, Weaviate, Qdrant, pgvector, or other vector databases.
- Experience building SaaS products and workflow automation systems.
- Exposure to GCP, Firebase, or distributed systems.
