Footwear Designer

Sunlight Sports Studio is currently seeking a highly driven and creative Footwear Designer to join our team in Bengaluru. This full-time role requires deep expertise in designing and developing footwear with a core focus on sports shoes and performance wear. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in fitting, line sheet development and sample development. You will play a key role in conceptualizing innovative, functional sports shoe designs, leading seasonal range creation from concept development to commercialization.

Sunlight Sports Studio LLP is a dynamic sports equipment retail and marketing company. We handle creative strategy and marketing for major sports brands like Li-Ning and Hundred in India. Our work spans digital campaigns, content creation, and retail activations that bring sports gear to life.

Responsibilities:

As a Footwear Designer at Sunlight Sports Studio LLP, you are responsible for leading the design process for new sports footwear collections from initial concept stages to production-ready samples.You will own the design intent throughout the product development lifecycle ensuring all products align with our brand values, market demands, and strategic goals

Key Responsibilities: 

• Design & Research: Lead trend and market research to stay informed about the latest trends, materials and competitor products in the footwear industry.
• Concept & Creation: Conceptualize innovative and functional sports shoe designs, creating seasonal design sketches. 
• Product Development: Translate design ideas into physical products, preparing product concepts to management and stakeholders for feedback and approval.
• Fitting & Execution: Conduct professional fittings and make precise technical adjustments to optimize the comfort, ergonomics, performance, and overall style.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with product developers, marketing, production and sourcing teams to align design visions and ensure timely cost-effective execution. 
• Supplier Coordination: Work closely with suppliers and manufacturers to utilize various materials and molds, effectively influencing design choices and footwear aesthetics.) 

Skills:

1. Proven Experience: Sports shoe designer with an understanding of footwear design processes, engineering and activewear trends.
2. Technical Proficiency: Advanced skill in footwear design, Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop is required.
3. Fitting Expertise: Strong acumen in fitting, ensuring that footwear provides maximum comfort and meets strict ergonomic and athletic standards.
4. Sample & Line Sheet Development: Ability to develop showback samples that meet high-quality standards.z
5. Material Knowledge: Skill in utilizing various performance materials, treatments, finishes and molds to influence design aesthetics and performance.

Experience Requirements

• Mandatory: 1-2 years of experience in Performance Apparel or Footwear Design, with specific expertise in footwear construction.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, Footwear Design, or a related field.
