Role Description
We are seeking a Food Technologist to join our Operations team in a full-time, on-site role based in Mumbai. The position involves contributing to product development, managing factory operations, ensuring quality control, and optimising production output. This is a cross-functional role requiring equal comfort on the production floor and in documentation/compliance work.
Production & Operations
- Oversee production and packing of snack products (chips, namkeen, and allied SKUs) — ensuring process parameters are within specifications
- Monitor and optimise yield, wastage, and line efficiency
- Coordinate with suppliers for procurement for raw material
- Maintain and enforce SOPs for manufacturing, sanitation, and equipment handling
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Conduct in-process and finished goods quality checks (sensory, physical, micro parameters)
- Manage FSSAI compliance — mandatory testing schedules, record-keeping, label declaration review
- Maintain batch records, COA review from vendors, and traceability documentation
- Handle internal audits and support third-party lab coordination
New Product Development
- Assist in formulation trials for new flavours, SKUs, and product variants
- Evaluate ingredient functionality (shelf life, texture, flavour stability)
- Prepare trial reports, sensory evaluation summaries, and scale-up notes
- Coordinate with packaging team on label content and ingredient declarations
Vendor & Raw Material Management
- Evaluate new ingredient/additive suppliers
- Review TDS/COA and conduct incoming quality checks for critical inputs
Qualifications
- Expertise in Food Technology and functional food formulations
- Hands-on experience in dealing with factory labour
- Knowledge and application of Quality Control processes to ensure product consistency and compliance
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Familiarity with sustainability practices and a passion for clean, innovative food solutions
