Job Description

Job Purpose

To Plan, monitor support the NDT Activity of SPG to BP M/c 1 to 4 & Vis # 1, PC 2-SFD,PC3,PC4, MCHP, so as to ensure optimum production and delivery within targeted cost and quality parameter and also carryout development projects to uplift total working of the section with respect to quality, cost, system & productivity through improving predictability & PMT of equipment.

Job Context & Major Challenges

Job Context:

Plant is over 50 years old. Till 1991-92, competition was not so fierce as market was protected. New plant with superior technology came up & competitive product like cotton & Polyester became cheaper than VSF. VSF sales started getting adversely affected & now pose a major challenge for growth. Thus, there is a need to improve product range & satisfy the customers with product at competitive price consistently. The major challenges for the job are: Balance between raw material, utilities & labour costs with market price of VSF to maximize margins. Plant maintenance demands higher focus due to corrosive environment / old building structures. Formulation & implementation of various development schemes for Quality improvement, cost effectiveness, plant reliability & Automation.

Job Challenges:
1. To ensure and keep healthiness of NDT equipment's
2. To link up the actual findings and carry out analysis of abnormality & suggest measures for corrective action.
3. Vibration data monitoring and analysis report sharing with department.
4. To analyze of pre-mature failure of equipment.
5. To Maintain zero incident and accident

Key Result Areas

KRA1	Production Planning & Control: Plan NDT activities in plant & find abnormalities	1. Plan NDT activity as per production target and control 2. Allocation of resources as per priority jobs. 3. Convey abnormality of Equipment / Machine to department for corrective action.
KRA2	Production Quality: To ensure the upkeep of equipment to ensure uninterrupted production/operations.	1. Health check of equipment through Vibration & Bearing condition monitoring, Flaw detector (UT testing), dynamic balancing, Dye penetration test, flow measurement, Steam trap / valve monitoring etc. 2. Initiate New Development
KRA3	Cost Optimization: To initiate cost reduction plan/measures.	1. Analyze and implement cost reduction and quality improvement measures through predicative maint. & reduces break down / waste generation - Plan & thus ensure timely delivery of VSF
KRA4	Safety: To plan the various safety initiates to create safe working condition & also meet the statutory compliances.	1. Practicing robust safety systems. 2. Reduce both severity rates and frequency rate.
KRA5	Continuous improvement & Strategic project: To ensure long term reliability , Improvement plan & plant upgradation for reliability	1. Implement safe practices in SOP - Eliminate lapses against unsafe conditions. Implements optimum parameters to control plant operation to meet all the Environment Standards
KRA6	Employee Development: Nurturing & Develop Human resources to create a vibrant NDT Team	. Appraise Inspires & Stimulates subordinates to maximize their performance towards dept. goals. . Create team culture & making people aware of their responsibilities. . Give feedback to superior for identified training need of workforce.
