Position: Electrical Project Engineer
Industry: Chemical / Process Plant
Experience: 8-10 Years
Location: Vilayat, Bharuch
Role Objective:
To execute, commission, and maintain electrical systems in a chemical plant environment, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant operation of LT & HT systems with strong exposure to project execution, electrical maintenance, flameproof installations, and modern electrical technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Electrical Project Execution
. End-to-end execution of electrical works for greenfield and brownfield projects.
. Supervision and hands-on involvement in cable tray installation, HT/LT cable laying, glanding, termination, and panel erection.
. Coordination with civil, mechanical, and instrumentation teams.
2. LT & HT Electrical Systems
. Operation and maintenance of LT (415V) and HT systems (up to 33 kV).
. Experience with transformers, VCBs, ACBs, MCCs, PCCs, and distribution boards.
. Understanding of protection schemes and interlocks.
3. Electrical Maintenance
. Preventive, breakdown, and shutdown maintenance experience.
. Troubleshooting of motors, drives, panels, and field equipment.
4. Flameproof & Hazardous Area Knowledge
. Understanding of hazardous area classifications (Zone 1 & Zone 2).
. Installation and maintenance of flameproof motors, junction boxes, lighting, and panels.
. Compliance with statutory and safety requirements for chemical plants.
5. Electrical Engineering & Calculations
. Cable sizing, voltage drop, derating, short-circuit, and load calculations.
. Reading and interpretation of SLDs, GA drawings, and cable schedules.
6. Drives, Motors & Power Quality
. Hands-on experience with VFDs, soft starters, and motor control systems.
. Troubleshooting of VFD trips and harmonics-related issues.
7. Communication & Latest Technologies
. Knowledge of Modbus RTU/TCP, Profibus, Profinet, and Ethernet-based systems.
. Coordination with automation and instrumentation teams.
8. Testing & Commissioning
9. Safety & Compliance
. Electrical safety practices, LOTO, work permit systems.
. Documentation, test reports, and as-built drawings.
10. Teamwork & Resource Utilization
. Strong team player with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
. Effective utilization of available resources (manpower, materials, time) to achieve project and maintenance objectives.
. Ability to prioritize tasks, optimize resource deployment, and support overall plant goals.
Preferred Background:
. Experience in chemical, petrochemical, or process industries.
. Exposure to shutdowns, brownfield execution, and hazardous areas.
