Fire and Safety Officer
Roles and Responsibilities
Fire Prevention and Suppression
Conduct regular fire safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain and inspect fire extinguishers, alarms, and sprinkler systems.
- Develop and implement fire evacuation plans and conduct fire drills.
- Train employees and students on fire prevention and response procedures.
Emergency Response Planning
- Collaborate with relevant departments to create and update emergency response plans.
- Coordinate with local authorities and emergency services for drills and real-life emergencies.
- Monitor weather and other potential emergency conditions, and take appropriate precautions.
Safety Training and Education
- Organize safety training sessions for employees and students.
- Promote safety awareness through workshops and campaigns.
- Maintain safety records and documentation.
Incident Investigation
- Investigate and document all safety incidents and near misses.
- Identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to safety reporting.
Regulatory Compliance
- Stay up-to-date with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
- Ensure the organization's compliance with all relevant safety standards.
- Assist in preparing reports for regulatory agencies, as required.
Skills Required
Qualification :
- Bachelor's degree in Fire Science, Safety Management, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications in fire safety and emergency management (e.g., Certified Fire Protection Specialist, Certified Safety Professional).
- Minimum of 5 + years of experience in fire safety and emergency management.
- Experience in the education industry is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of local and national fire safety codes and regulations.
- Excellent communication and training skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in MS Office and safety management software.
