Job Description

The Fire Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring fire safety compliance, maintaining all fire protection systems, conducting inspections and drills, and responding to fire emergencies to safeguard life and property. The role also includes ensuring statutory compliance, training occupants, and maintaining fire safety documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all fire protection systems (Fire Alarm, Hydrant, Sprinkler, PA System, Smoke Management System, Fire Pumps) are operational and in Auto mode.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of fire safety equipment.
  • Monitor fire pump room, diesel pump, jockey pump, pressure gauges, diesel tank level, and fire water tank level.
  • Maintain fire extinguishers, hose reels, hydrants, sprinkler systems, and emergency lighting.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance coordination with OEMs and vendors.
  • Conduct routine fire safety audits and identify fire hazards.
  • Ensure compliance with local fire regulations, National Building Code (NBC), and client safety standards.
  • Prepare and maintain fire safety records, checklists, logbooks, and compliance documents.
  • Conduct fire drills, emergency evacuation drills, and emergency response training.
  • Train Fire Wardens, Security Guards, and building occupants on fire safety procedures.
  • Inspect hot work activities and ensure Permit-to-Work (PTW) compliance.
  • Investigate fire incidents, prepare incident reports, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with local Fire Department during emergencies and statutory inspections.
  • Ensure emergency exits, staircases, and fire escape routes remain unobstructed.
  • Supervise firefighting equipment testing and annual third-party inspections.
  • Support Building Manager during audits, client inspections, and emergency situations.

Qualifications

  • Diploma/Degree in Fire & Safety Engineering or Fire Technology.
  • Fire Safety certification from a recognized institute.
  • Knowledge of NFPA, NBC, IS standards, and local fire regulations is preferred.

Experience

  • 2–5 years of experience in commercial buildings, IT parks, malls, hospitals, or industrial facilities.
  • Experience in Facility Management companies such as JLL, CBRE, Cushman & Wakefield, or similar is preferred.
