Role Description The Fire Protection Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Pune. The person in this position will design and review fire protection and life safety systems, including detection, alarm, suppression, and passive protection components, in line with national and international codes and standards. Daily responsibilities include performing site assessments, preparing engineering calculations and layouts, coordinating with architects, project managers, and contractors, and supporting installation and commissioning activities. The role also involves conducting risk assessments, preparing technical documentation, assisting with fire audits and compliance reports, and troubleshooting existing systems to improve reliability and performance. The engineer will collaborate closely with the STM Fire team to ensure each project meets safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
  • Candidates should possess strong skills in Fire Protection Engineering and Safety Engineering for the design and analysis of fire and life safety systems.
  • Candidates should possess applied knowledge of Fire Safety and Life Safety to ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Candidates should possess technical expertise in Fire Suppression Systems, including sprinklers, hydrants, and gas-based systems for diverse environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline; advanced certifications in fire and life safety are an advantage.
  • Knowledge of National Building Code (NBC) and applicable international fire safety standards, with experience interpreting and applying them to projects.
  • Proficiency in reading and preparing engineering drawings, layouts, and technical documentation; familiarity with CAD or similar design tools is beneficial.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively on-site with multidisciplinary project teams and clients.
  • Prior experience in fire protection design, installation, or commissioning in commercial, industrial, or institutional projects is preferred.
