About The Function
The Finance function at MakeMyTrip plays a critical role in ensuring strong financial governance, accurate reporting, and disciplined capital allocation across the organization. The team partners closely with business and corporate stakeholders to drive financial transparency, support strategic priorities, and enable sustainable growth.
Within the Finance function, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) is a vital function that monitors the company's financial well-being. The FP&A team collaborates with multiple business units to manage budgeting and forecasting, track performance through rigorous variance analysis, and deliver actionable financial insights that support strategic and operational decision-making.
About The Role
As a member of the FP&A team, it is crucial to provide leadership and business teams with an accurate view of P&L metrics for the Group and each line of business. The role requires close collaboration with business stakeholders during the budgeting cycle and the development of the Annual Operating Plan (AOP), which serves as the financial roadmap for the year.
The incumbent will be responsible for driving timely and precise monthly and quarterly flash reporting, monitoring performance against plan, and highlighting key variances and risks. The role also involves generating actionable insights to support business decision-making, improving planning rigor, and strengthening financial visibility across functions.
What will you be doing
Financial Planning & Forecasting
- Support quarterly, monthly, and mid-month management reporting.
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting cycles, including variance analysis.
Business Partnering
- Work closely with business teams on budgeting exercises and development of the Annual Operating Plan (AOP).
- Partner with stakeholders to analyze current and historical trends across key performance indicators, including revenue, cost of sales, operating expenses, and capital expenditure.
- Monitor performance indicators, highlight trends, and analyze root causes of variances versus budget and forecasts.
- Proactively provide insights and recommendations on key business metrics.
Strategic Decision Support
- Drive Line of Business (LOB) P&L ownership, analysis, and performance tracking.
- Undertake analytical and research-based assignments to support strategic initiatives.
Process Improvement & Automation
- Identify opportunities for process automation and standardization of existing reports.
- Drive automation, digitalization, and simplification of FP&A processes using advanced systems and analytics tools.
- Develop a strong understanding of different lines of business, their operating models, and profitability drivers.
Reporting & Analysis
- Handle ad-hoc reporting and deep-dive analysis as required.
- Support quarterly results reporting, analysis, and senior management presentations.
Market & Competitive Analysis
- Conduct market research and analyze competitor activities and industry dynamics to identify growth opportunities.
Qualification & Experience
- Chartered Accountant (CA) with 57 years of experience in FP&A, business finance, or business strategy roles.
- Strong proficiency in Excel, financial systems, and BI/analytics tools such as Tableau, Power BI, and SQL.
- Advanced PowerPoint skills with the ability to create clear, insight-led presentations for senior stakeholders.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with experience in front-end stakeholder discussions and business partnering with leadership teams.
