The Commercial & Investment Bank (CIB) Central Planning & Analysis (P&A) team partners with Corporate P&A, lines of business, and functional finance to drive enterprise planning, forecasting, and management reporting for the CIB. The team provides high-quality financial insights, governance, and executive-ready analytics that support senior leadership decision-making.

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) is primarily responsible for leading and coordinating the budgeting and forecasting process, including the short- and long-term projection of earnings and capital over varying economic scenarios. FP&A operates in close cooperation with firmwide groups in each line of business to prepare management reports and presentations for the Operating Committee and the Board of Directors.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the submission of the Commercial & Investment Bank (CIB) monthly forecasts and annual budget rounds for P&L and balance sheet to Corporate.
  • Prepare and submit the CIB annual FX exposure reports to Corporate to support firmwide hedging activities.
  • Deliver the CIB headcount and location planning submissions to Corporate in line with planning timelines.
  • Execute timely reconciliations, control validations, and variance analysis across forecast, budget, FX exposure, and headcount processes.
  • Develop, consolidate, and present robust qualitative and quantitative analysis, including annual budget and quarterly/monthly forecast variance commentary.
  • Create, maintain, and review financial models and recurring/ad-hoc analyses to support decision-making.
  • Conduct deep-dive analyses on key drivers and performance issues, identify root causes, and propose practical solutions.
  • Maintain CIB financial reference data and process hierarchy requests accurately and on time.
  • Ensure appropriate governance and approvals across hierarchies, including Volcker, taxonomy, and alternate hierarchies.
  • Support periodic cleanup of legacy centers and related reference data to improve data quality and reporting consistency.
  • Serve as a liaison across Corporate P&A, Firmwide P&A, lines of business, Functional Finance, and partner teams to deliver impactful planning/reporting and executive-ready presentations support ad-hoc requests and strategic initiatives while building strong stakeholder relationships.

  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Strong technical and analytical skills, including Excel, PowerPoint, Essbase, Visual Basic and macros
  • Ability to navigate multiple data sets and synthesize into cohesive presentation and recommendations
  • Detail oriented with the ability to work well under pressure, handling multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously
  • Team oriented, inquisitive, critical thinker who anticipates questions from internal clients and senior management
  • Ability to build strong partnerships with colleagues, desire to learn quickly, be flexible and think strategically

Preferred qualifications

  • BA/BS in Finance, Economics, Accounting (CFA, CPA, MBA a plus)
  • At least 3 years of relevant FP&A experience, preferably in the financial services industry
