Position Overview:
The Unit Financial Controller of a Welcomhotel is responsible for overseeing the entire financial operation for the unit. This is a crucial leadership role that balances rigorous financial reporting with strategic business partnership to maximize profitability and ensure compliance. The position has high prominence wherein s/he plays a key advisory role for the General Manager and Hotel Ownership.
This position reports to the hotel General Manager.
Key deliverables include but are not limited to:
- Strategic Financial Leadership: Develop and execute property-wide financial strategies that align with brand initiatives and maximize return on investment (ROI).
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the annual operating and capital budget processes. Create rolling forecasts that allow the hotel to react swiftly to market volatility.
- Operational Oversight: Manage all daily accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, income audit, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
- Cash Flow & Asset Management: Monitor liquidity, manage banking relationships, and oversee working capital to ensure adequate cash flow for operations while safeguarding assets.
- Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure total adherence to local and international tax laws, accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS), and internal control policies to mitigate financial risk.
- Profitability Optimization: Analyze financial data and market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities and new revenue streams, advising department heads on profit-maximizing ideas.
- Stakeholder Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and MIS reports for General Manager, Owning Board, and Corporate Office.
- Team Development: Recruit, mentor, and lead a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and professional growth.
Required qualifications & skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting; an MBA or professional certification like CPA, CA, or CMA is highly preferred.
- 7 to 10+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role within the hotel hospitality industry is desirable.
- Demonstrated experience of working on hospitality-specific systems along with advanced Excel modeling.
