Financial Controller to build, lead, and strengthen the entire finance function for a growing multi-entity organization in Kampala, Uganda.
You will take full ownership of financial accounting, taxation, statutory compliance, auditing, payroll, and internal controls — playing a critical role in driving financial integrity, operational efficiency, and strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Oversee end-to-end accounting operations, reconciliations, and month-end closing processes
- Prepare accurate financial statements, management reports, and performance dashboards
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial modelling
- Manage supplier accounts, contractor payments, and sub-ledger reconciliations
Taxation & Statutory Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with Ugandan tax laws (VAT, PAYE, Corporate Tax, Withholding Tax, etc.)
- Handle tax filings, assessments, objections, and correspondence with URA
- Monitor regulatory changes and provide proactive tax advisory to management
- Maintain compliant statutory records across all entities
Audit & Regulatory Coordination
- Lead statutory audits and coordinate with external auditors
- Prepare audit schedules, respond to audit queries, and ensure timely resolution
- Ensure adherence to IFRS and local regulatory reporting standards
Payroll & HR Finance
- Oversee full payroll processing for both local and expatriate staff
- Manage staff advances, loans, and employee financial records
- Ensure compliance with statutory deductions and employment regulations
Internal Controls & Risk Management
- Design and strengthen internal control systems and accounting processes
- Identify financial risks and implement effective mitigation measures
- Drive process improvements and standardization across the finance function
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop the on-ground finance team
- Build capability and set high standards for long-term operational excellence
Mandatory Requirements
What We Are Looking For
- Professionally qualified CA / ACCA / CPA (applications without this will not be considered)
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3–6 years of post-qualification experience in financial accounting, taxation, and compliance
- Strong proficiency in Tally Prime or similar ERP system
- Advanced MS Excel skills (financial modelling, pivot tables, dashboards)
- Excellent command of written and spoken English
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in Uganda or East Africa (highly advantageous)
- Familiarity with Ugandan tax laws, URA processes, and NSSF
- Background in construction, infrastructure, real estate, or manufacturing
- Experience managing multi-entity operations and expatriate payroll
