Anakin is a Y-Combinator backed technology company and a competitive pricing intelligence platform for brands and online stores.
Anakin sends eCommerce stores and brands the pricing, products and trends data of other similar stores (their competitors) so they can adjust their prices accordingly, fast. We collect web data at scale so that you don't have to. We track and categorise all this data using AI and machine learning.
Role Overview:
The Financial Analyst will be a key contributor to the finance function, encompassing general accounting, financial operations, and foundational financial planning. This role requires an individual with strong foundational accounting knowledge, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic startup environment.
Core Focus Areas
This is a generalist role with responsibilities across the entire finance spectrum.
Focus areas include:
- General Accounting: Ensuring accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions.
- Accounts Receivable (AR) & Accounts Payable (AP): Managing the full cycle of AR and AP processes.
- Reporting of Business Critical Ratios: Producing timely reports and analyses of key financial and operational metrics.
- Cost Accounting: Tracking and analysing company costs.
- Payroll: Executing and managing the payroll process.
- Employee Queries: Addressing and resolving finance-related employee questions.
- Foundation Building: Contributing to the establishment of robust financial processes and controls.
- Taxation: Managing tax compliance, preparation and filing of tax returns, Direct & Indirect taxes, and ensuring adherence to applicable tax regulations.
- US GAAP: Applying US GAAP/IFRS for financial reporting, revenue recognition, expense matching, and preparation of compliant financial statements.
Success Metrics
The primary measures of success for this role in the first six months will be:
- Accuracy and Timeliness of Financial Records: Maintaining books for General Accounting, AR, and AP with minimal errors and adhering to reporting deadlines.
- Efficiency in Core Operations: Establishing and maintaining efficient and error-free processes for Payroll and basic AR/AP functions.
- Timely Reporting: Consistently providing accurate and timely reports on business-critical ratios.
- Stakeholder Satisfaction: Effectively addressing and resolving Employee Queries and building strong working relationships with key internal teams.
Qualifications
We are seeking a candidate with a strong foundation in finance and accounting.
- Education: Chartered Accountant (CA) is preferred.
- CA Preference: Recently qualified CAs or those with under 2 years of post-qualification experience. No specific preference regarding the number of attempts.
Experience:
- Recent CAs or up to 2 years of post-qualification experience.
- The experience range is flexible for stronger profiles demonstrating exceptional aptitude and domain knowledge.
Critical Tools and Technical Skills
- Excel Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, modeling, and reporting is essential.
- Accounting Tool Acumen: Strong understanding of general accounting software and the ability to quickly master new tools.
