Position Summary

Role Title - Production Financial Analyst

The Production Financial Analyst supports the Production Accountant in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of project financial data. Working closely with the Production Accountant, this role is responsible for building and maintaining financial databases, producing recurring and ad hoc reports, and preparing client invoices. The role also contributes to revenue recognition processes and internal financial controls, ensuring that financial information across all projects is complete, consistent, and audit ready.

Key Responsibilities

Project Financial Data Management

• Establish and maintain a project cost estimate database:
• Regularly perform a payroll by project reconciliation
• Regularly perform project cost estimations
• Periodically update tax credit related estimates
• Establish and maintain and regularly update tax rebate tracking databases.
• Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across all projects financial reporting systems
• Identify and resolve discrepancies between production & financial information systems.

Revenue Recognition & Financial Controls

• Assist with the revenue recognition process in accordance with company policies and applicable accounting standards.
• Support periodic reviews of revenue-related internal controls.
• Prepare supporting schedules and reconciliations for management review.
• Assist in monitoring project performance against budgets, forecasts, and revenue expectations.
• Support month-end and year-end financial reporting activities related to project accounting.

Reporting & Analysis

• Generate and maintain recurring financial and operational reports in support of the production accounting function.
• Respond to ad hoc reporting and analysis requests as they arise.
• Assist in the creation and monitoring of key project financial metrics to identify trends, risks, or opportunities.
• Assist with project tax credit claims
• Provide data-driven insights to improve project profitability tracking and cash flow management.
• Prepare and issue accurate client invoices in a timely manner, ensuring alignment with contract terms and project milestones.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• 3-7 years of experience in financial analysis, accounting or a related field
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
• Experience with ERP, accounting, or project management systems.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities

Additional Information

Assets - Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the Visual Effects industry, or project-based environments such as construction, or engineering.
• Experience with Netsuite, and Shotgrid Autodesk
• Experience with PowerBI
• Experience with SQLiteStudio or other similar database management system
• Ability to efficiently leverage AI language models & tools for increased productivity.
