Hotwire is looking for an experienced Financial Accountant to support a fast‑paced, international finance function. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys ownership, strong stakeholder collaboration, and hands‑on delivery across month‑end close, management reporting, and Australian tax compliance.
You'll work closely with senior finance stakeholders and collaborate across globally distributed teams, supporting head office finance operations and broader group reporting requirements.
What you'll be doing
Australian tax compliance (direct & indirect)
- Prepare and lodge BAS and IAS accurately and on time (GST compliance)
- Manage payroll tax obligations (monthly returns and annual reconciliations)
- Prepare FBT workpapers and coordinate lodgements with external tax advisors
- Monitor changes in relevant Australian tax legislation and flag implications to senior finance leaders
- Support tax return coordination by preparing schedules and data for external advisors
- Prepare ABS surveys and Payment Times Reporting as required
Month‑end close & reporting
- Own the month‑end close process for head office, ensuring accurate journals and on‑time delivery
- Prepare monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet and commentary)
- Perform and review balance sheet reconciliations, resolving reconciling items promptly
- Prepare group cash flow reporting and review subsidiary submissions, escalating risks as needed
- Prepare and manage intercompany recharges and reconciliations
- Support budgeting and rolling forecasts
- Support half‑year and year‑end audits and related deliverables
- Assist with interim and annual reporting disclosures as required
Accounts payable oversight & coverage
- Oversee accounts payable activity and review payment runs for accuracy and approvals
- Provide AP backfill during absences, including invoice processing, coding and payment preparation
- Maintain vendor records and support resolution of payment queries
- Review employee expenses and credit card claims in line with policy
Team coordination & ad‑hoc support
- Identify reporting quality or timeliness risks and escalate appropriately
- Support annual insurance renewal data preparation
- Provide ad‑hoc financial analysis to senior finance stakeholders
What we're looking for
- 5+ years experience as a Financial Accountant or Senior Accountant (multi‑entity or complex environment preferred)
- CA, CPA or ICAI qualified (or equivalent)
- Strong hands‑on experience with Australian GST (BAS/IAS), with exposure to FBT and payroll tax
- Solid understanding of month‑end close, reconciliations and management reporting
- Comfortable providing AP oversight and stepping into transactional coverage when required
- Excellent communication skills across time zones
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing deadlines
- Strong Excel skills; experience with TM1 or Paprika is an advantage
- Minimum 4 hours daily overlap with Australian Eastern Time
