Responsible for finance operation in Partner Reinsurance Asia Pte. Ltd , India GIFT City Branch (the Branch). The Finance Manager oversees all financial and accounting functions, compliance related matters and office management of the Branch. This role reports directly to the CFO, Singapore.

The responsibilities will include but not limit to ensuring compliance with the local regulatory requirements and ensuring all efficient typical finance operations, external reporting and liaison with the relevant departments and auditors for quarter and year end close.

Applicants should be currently located in GIFT City or willing to relocate, and must possess a valid work authorization. The position is expected to commence by early May at the latest.

The role

Regulatory and statutory reporting

  • Responsibilities include oversight of appropriate financial processing of the Branch. This includes responsibilities over the quarterly close for Group (USGAAP) and Head Office (MAS) purposes
  • The manager is also responsible for accuracy and timeliness of all financial reporting, including statutory and tax filings
  • Responsibilities include liaising with (1) IFSCA officers on compliance and other reporting related matters (2) external auditors and tax agents on audit and tax matters and (3) banks on banking matters
  • Significant coordination is required with other departments, including reinsurance accounting, planning & performance management, tax, corporate accounting, investment accounting, actuarial, legal & compliance, and risk management.
  • Support continuous improvements of Group-wide financial and operational core financial systems (PeopleSoft)
  • Provide support to regional business unit leaders, including reporting and analysis of the Branch's performance
  • The manager will be expected to occasionally lead or support Group-wide projects for the company such as new local regulatory initiatives.

Compliance and Risk

  • Responsible for assisting Group Legal & Compliance in monitoring and maintaining compliance with the requirements of relevant local legislation and other regulatory requirements
  • Ensure a strong understanding of the risks the Branch is facing and that there is an efficient and reliable process to identify, monitor and manage
  • Assisting where appropriate on Group-wide Legal & Compliance initiatives

Office management

Ad hoc administrative or office management duties required from time to time

Your profile

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and a relevant accounting professional qualifications e.g. CPA/ACCA
  • Minimum 8 to 10 years of experience in the reinsurance or insurance industry and/or relevant experience in a Big 4 accounting firm
  • Strong up-to-date knowledge of reinsurance accounting
  • Good understanding of Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) and International Financial Services Centre Authority (IFSCA) regulations
  • Sound technical knowledge on financial accounting and reporting standards (IFRS, USGAAP). Knowledge of IFRS 17 is an advantage
  • Proficient in English (written and spoken)
  • Well versed in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Knowledge in Peoplesoft is an advantage.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills to engage at all levels and regulators
  • Experience liaising with external auditors and other accounting and reinsurance professionals
