Finance Manager

About the Role

CloudHire is seeking a hands-on, detail-obsessed Comptroller who can build, clean, and maintain our financial systems from the ground up.

This is not a pure accountant role — it's an operational finance leadership role responsible for day-to-day financial accuracy, compliance across India & US entities, and ensuring our books always reflect reality.

You will own the accounting function end-to-end, manage a small team, and be responsible for establishing the financial backbone of a fast-scaling global company.

Core Responsibilities

1. Accounting Setup & Maintenance

• Set up all accounting processes from scratch using QuickBooks Online.
• Manage chart of accounts, classifications, accruals, journals, ledgers.
• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations across:
• Bank accounts (US & India)
• Stripe, Razorpay, PayPal
• Payroll entries
• Vendor payments
• Invoices & receivables
• Clean up historical books (India + US) and bring everything to audit-ready status.

2. Budgeting, Cashflow & Reporting

• Build and maintain cashflow models, expense tracking systems, and monthly burn reports.
• Work with leadership to prepare departmental budgets and monitor adherence.
• Build dashboards to track:
• Revenue
• Collections
• Vendor payouts
• Payroll liabilities
• Forecasted runway
• Provide weekly and monthly financial summaries that the CEO can rely on for decision-making.

3. Team Leadership & Process Control

• Manage and upskill a small accounting team (2–4 people).
• Implement strong internal controls, SOPs, approval flows, and documentation.
• Maintain accurate vendor, payroll, and statutory compliance records.
• Own the closing calendar (monthly/quarterly/year-end).

4. India Compliance

• File or coordinate:
• GST
• TDS
• PF/ESI
• Payroll compliance
• ROC filings (with CA)
• Ensure vendor compliance (GST input, TDS certificates, proper invoicing).
• Handle audits and coordinate with external CA and legal.

5. US Accounting & GAAP Alignment

• Maintain US books in QuickBooks (Delaware C-Corp structure).
• Ensure books follow US GAAP classification, not Indian format.
• Manage:
• US payroll entries
• Contractor invoices
• Cross-border transactions
• USD/INR currency adjustments
• Work with the US CPA for:
• 1099s
• W-2s
• Annual reports
• Federal & state filings

6. Payroll Management

India Payroll

• Validate attendance, pay components, reimbursements.
• Finalize monthly payroll runs with accuracy.
• Ensure PF/ESI/PT and other statutory components are correctly applied.

US Payroll

• Process payroll via Gusto/Deel/ADP or equivalent platforms.
• Manage deductions, benefits, reimbursements, and classification.
• Ensure compliance with federal/state reporting.

Requirements (Must-Have)

Experience

• 5–8 years in accounting/controllership roles.
• Experience managing small finance or accounting teams.
• Experience in a startup or fast-moving company preferred.

Technical

• QuickBooks Online expert.
• Strong Excel/Sheets modeling skills.
• Familiar with US GAAP and India accounting standards.
• Strong reconciliation and cleanup experience.

Domain

• Solid understanding of Indian taxation and payroll.
• Working knowledge of US payroll & accounting structures.
