Lead Analyst - Payroll

The JCPenney Services India office opened in 2016 and is an extension of the JCPenney office in the US. With over 700 employees, the center provides critical functions including technology, e-commerce operations, retail operations, merchandising, and other capabilities. Responsibilities
- Ownership for end-to-end processing for US Payroll Operations
- Analyze, resolve, and communicate findings for complex payroll issues
- Develop, implement, and conduct projects and analysis to improve accuracy and reporting related to payroll operations and payroll accounting
- Ensure payroll activity is accurate and reconciled along with timely resolution and reporting of issues to management
- Assists other team members in data investigation, reporting, and analysis as needed including recommendations for process improvement
- Utilize resources to identify issues, solve problems, and implement solutions with little to no supervision
- Solves and escalates issues to management in a simple and actionable format.
- Performs complex data mining, analytics, and query creation
- Perform root cause analysis and streamline processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs
- Work cross-functionally to resolve issues including across other areas of the company
- Identifies and solves issues with limited/ambiguous parameters

- Intermediate to advanced ability with Microsoft Office Tools, including Excel
- Intermediate knowledge of SQL and other querying tools

- Ability to work in an ambiguous, complex, challenging and fast-paced environment
- Ability to lead teams and own end-to-end assigned initiatives and projects
- Detailed and organized to prioritize work effectively
- Exhibits ability to identify and prevent potential errors with attention to detail
- Ability to identify and analyze trends with a focus on identifying root cause to streamline processes
- Ability to learn and understand the usage of automation tools.
- Ability to leverage AI tools to automate tasks.
- Proficiency in data analysis and ability to familiarize with machine learning.
Experience/Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance/Commerce
- 6-9 years of US Payroll experience
- Certificate on latest Finance technology tools would be preferred
- Lean and Six sigma background would be added advantage
