About the Company
A domestic insurance company modernising its operations team is looking for a Finance Business Partner to sit alongside its claims and customer-servicing leaders, and has engaged Flexiple for the search. Flexiple is a managed marketplace that helps companies find experienced hires and introduces only profiles it has already assessed. The operations function has grown quickly, but its cost visibility has not kept up, and leaders want a finance partner who can turn numbers into decisions.
The Mandate
You will be the finance counterpart for the operations heads, responsible for budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis and business cases. You report into the finance head with a strong dotted line to the chief operating officer, and you will have a seat in monthly business reviews.
What You Will Own
- Build and manage the annual operating budget and quarterly forecasts for claims, servicing and policy administration
- Analyse expense ratios, cost per claim and cost per policy and explain movements to business leaders
- Evaluate business cases for automation, vendor changes and headcount, with clear return and payback views
- Prepare monthly management packs with commentary the business can use, not just variance tables
- Work with the controllership team to keep provisions, accruals and vendor commitments accurate
- Challenge spend assumptions constructively, and escalate where a decision carries financial or regulatory risk
- Develop simple dashboards in Excel or a BI tool that operations managers can read themselves
What You Bring
- 6 to 10 years in finance, with at least 3 in FP and A or business partnering
- Qualified CA, CMA or MBA Finance
- Strong financial modelling and Excel skills, and practical experience with a planning tool or BI platform
- Ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance leaders without jargon
- Experience in insurance, banking or financial services is valuable
An Advantage
- Familiarity with insurance regulatory reporting and IRDAI norms
- Experience supporting transformation or automation programmes
- Comfort with SQL or data tools
