JOOLA is the world's leading pickleball brand, operating under Sport Squad Inc., a sports and gaming company headquartered in Rockville, Maryland, USA, with global operations.
JOOLA India manages the company's commercial business in the Indian market across pickleball, table tennis, footwear, and accessories. The business operates through a multi-channel distribution model that includes distributors, e-commerce platforms, direct-to-consumer sales, and facility partnerships.
We are hiring a Finance Business Partner (Commercial) to support our India business, who will be responsible for establishing the business finance planning function end to end.
This role acts as a financial partner to the India General Manager, and carries a dual mandate:
- Acting as a financial co‑pilot to the India General Manager on business performance and commercial decision-making.
- Designing and operationalising FP&A processes, reporting frameworks, and the analytical infrastructure required as the business scales.
Key Responsibilities
1. Commercial Partnering & Business Performance
- Serve as the primary financial partner to the leadership, embedding financial discipline into decisions related to growth, channel expansion, pricing, and investment allocation.
- Devising structured financial analysis, and clear actionable models for the leadership to evaluate commercial opportunities and business cases
2. Function Design & Operational Infrastructure
- Establish the FP&A function from the ground up, including operating procedures, financial templates, reporting rhythms, and internal controls.
- Partner closely with the global finance team to ensure the group's alignment with India.
- Leverage technology (e.g., NetSuite, RPA, and AI tools) to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
3. Sales & Financial Analysis
- Analyse performance across channels, products, and customer segments
- Identify growth opportunities and underperformance
- Build dashboards and track key commercial metrics
- Provide regular performance insights to stakeholders
4. Financial Planning & Management
- Own the end-to-end financial planning cycle, including annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and variance analysis, ensuring continuous visibility
- Design and lead the management reporting framework, delivering timely, accurate, and commercially relevant insights for the GM India and global stakeholders.
5. Financial Governance & Reporting
- Support month-end close in partnership with global finance
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data
- Assist with statutory reporting, tax, and audit requirements
- Maintain reporting cadence aligned with global standards
6. Cash Flow & Operational Discipline
- Monitor cash flow and working capital
- Provide recommendations on cost control and cash optimisation
- Support prioritisation of investments and resource allocation
7. Cross-Functional Alignment
- Act as a bridge between India business and global finance
- Align local practices with global standards
- Ensure clarity in roles, responsibilities, and processes
Requirements
- Minimum 12 years of progressive FP&A experience, including at least 4-5 years in business partnering or commercial finance roles
- Demonstrated experience establishing or materially transforming a finance function.
- Advanced proficiency in financial modelling and MIS construction
- Experience managing financial reporting for global stakeholders across multiple geographies and currencies
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) or MBA in Finance from a reputed institution
- Experience within a GCC or shared services environment is an added advantage
- Preference for candidates with experience in consumer brands, sporting goods, direct-to-consumer, or FMCG where P&L ownership and business partnering are central.
- Working knowledge of NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or equivalent ERP systems within a multi-entity structure
- Strong ownership mindset; self-starter with a solution-oriented approach.
- High commercial fluency, with the ability to interpret financial data in a business context and communicate clearly with non-finance stakeholders
- A genuine interest in sport, fitness, and pickleball in particular, aligned with JOOLA's culture
