ABOUT THE POSITION
The Finance & Accounting Manager will lead the day-to-day finance and accounting activities for Astec's India Center of Excellence. The Ahmedabad facility primarily operates as an engineering COE and cost center, with monthly intercompany invoicing for engineering services provided to other Astec facilities. The site also supports parts sales for certain historical products that were previously manufactured at the facility.
This role is responsible for timely and accurate financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, vendor payments, ERP administration, statutory compliance, audit coordination, and selected operational finance activities. The position will manage one direct report and serve as the key local finance contact for business leaders, corporate finance, auditors, tax advisors, and transfer pricing specialists.
KEY DELIVERABLES
- Deliver complete and accurate monthly financial reporting within the Day 5 close deadline.
- Lead the annual budget process and prepare accurate monthly forecasts.
- Provide financial analytics, business insights, and actionable recommendations to support strategic direction.
- Maintain strong accounting governance, internal controls, and compliance with U.S. GAAP and local statutory requirements.
- Ensure timely and accurate intercompany invoicing for engineering services provided by the India COE.
- Coordinate statutory, tax, transfer pricing, internal, and other external audit activities.
- Maintain reliable financial processes and data within TallyPrime.
KEY ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Reporting and Month-End Close
- Lead the monthly close process and prepare the management and financial reporting package within the Day 5 reporting deadline.
- Ensure all accounting entries are accurate, complete, supported, and compliant with U.S. GAAP and applicable local statutory requirements.
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, account analyses, and monthly variance explanations.
- Monitor the integrity of the general ledger and resolve accounting issues on a timely basis.
- Comply with corporate reporting requirements, finance policies, and internal control standards.
Planning, Forecasting, and Financial Analysis
- Lead the annual operating budget process for the India facility.
- Prepare monthly forecasts and communicate material changes, risks, and opportunities.
- Provide monthly financial data analytics, performance commentary, and recommendations to support strategic and operational decisions.
- Partner with engineering and local leadership to monitor cost performance, resource utilization, and service cost recovery.
COE and Intercompany Accounting
- Maintain and administer the billing structure for the Center of Excellence.
- Prepare or oversee monthly intercompany invoices for engineering services provided to other Astec facilities.
- Monitor intercompany balances and support timely reconciliation and settlement.
- Provide financial information and support for transfer pricing documentation and reviews.
Accounts Payable, Cash, and Local Administration
- Oversee the accurate and timely processing and payment of local vendors.
- Ensure vendor payments comply with approval requirements, supporting documentation standards, and company policies.
- Monitor local cash requirements and coordinate funding needs with corporate finance, as applicable.
ERP and Process Ownership
- Maintain the local TallyPrime ERP system and help safeguard the accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Maintain accounting process documentation and support continuous improvement, standardization, and automation opportunities.
- Coordinate user support and issue resolution related to local finance processes and TallyPrime.
Statutory Compliance and Audit Support
- Ensure compliance with applicable local accounting, statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as the key finance lead for statutory audits and coordinate requests, schedules, and responses.
- Support tax, transfer pricing, internal control, internal audit, and other external audit activities.
- Work with corporate finance, external advisors, and government or regulatory bodies as required.
Operational and Commercial Support
- Provide support for export and shipping documentation when required for international parts shipments.
- Assist with the annual physical inventory and related inventory reconciliation activities.
- Support finance requirements associated with parts sales for historical products previously manufactured at the facility.
- Partner with Engineering, Sales, Supply Chain, and other functions to support compliance with finance policies and procedures.
People Leadership
- Manage, coach, and develop one direct report.
- Set clear priorities, monitor performance against deadlines, and maintain high professional standards.
- Promote accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and effective cross-functional relationships.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- A professional accounting qualification, such as Chartered Accountant, CMA, CPA, or equivalent, is preferred and would be beneficial.
Experience
- Three to five years of progressive accounting, financial reporting, and financial analysis experience.
- Practical experience with month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, balance sheet reconciliations, and management reporting.
- Experience supporting statutory reporting, tax compliance, and external audits in India.
- Experience in a multinational company, shared services environment, engineering organization, or Center of Excellence is preferred.
- Exposure to intercompany accounting and transfer pricing is beneficial.
- Prior supervisory or team leadership experience is preferred.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and Indian statutory accounting requirements.
- Experience using TallyPrime or a comparable ERP system. Direct TallyPrime experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, explain variances, and translate findings into practical recommendations.
- Understanding of internal controls, audit requirements, and disciplined financial processes.

This role is primarily based in an office environment and includes extensive computer work, sitting, and standing.
