Job Description

Company Description Sisir Radar Private Limited is pioneering India's first drone‑borne Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) system, built on the world's highest‑resolution L‑band SAR technology. The company focuses on delivering all‑weather, day‑and‑night, high‑frequency imaging solutions that operate effectively through clouds, smoke, fog, and darkness. Its mission is to make advanced SAR technology and its outputs affordable and accessible for a wide range of commercial and strategic applications. Founded by Tapan Misra, a globally recognized expert in imaging radar and former Director of ISRO's Space Applications Centre and Physical Research Laboratory, the company is guided by deep expertise in satellite and radar imaging systems. His leadership experience, including key roles in the RISAT satellite series and the NASA‑ISRO dual‑frequency SAR (NISAR), anchors the organization's technical vision and innovation.
Role Description The Field Technician Platform/Payload role is a full-time, on-site position based in Kolkata. The technician will support the installation, integration, and maintenance of platform and payload components for drone‑borne SAR systems, including mechanical, electrical, and RF subsystems. Daily responsibilities include conducting pre‑flight and post‑flight checks, troubleshooting field issues, performing routine inspections, and documenting test results, configurations, and maintenance activities. The role involves working closely with engineering teams during field trials, assisting in calibration and alignment of radar payloads, and ensuring safe and reliable operation of all equipment. The technician will also help manage spare parts and tools, adhere to safety protocols, and occasionally travel to test ranges or customer locations as required.

  • Familiarity with field testing procedures, including pre‑flight checks, system calibration, fault isolation, and routine preventive maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, assembly instructions, and standard operating procedures.
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills for logging test outcomes, maintenance records, and issue tracking in a clear and organized manner.
  • Comfort working in outdoor and field environments, following safety guidelines, and handling sensitive equipment with care.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with engineers, pilots, and other technicians during development and field trials.
  • Relevant technical diploma or degree (e.g., in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related discipline); prior experience in UAVs, radar, or aerospace
