About the Role

Our consulting client is looking for an FEA & Simulation Engineer to support engineering design, product development and validation activities for automotive components. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA), engineering simulation and CAE, preferably within the automotive or auto-components industry.

The engineer will work closely with design, product development, manufacturing and quality teams to evaluate component performance, identify potential design issues and support optimization of products through simulation.

Responsibilities

• Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and engineering simulations for automotive components.
• Develop and execute simulation models based on product requirements and engineering specifications.
• Conduct structural, static, dynamic and other relevant analyses as required.
• Analyze simulation results and provide recommendations for product and design improvements.
• Support product development, design validation and engineering change activities through CAE analysis.
• Identify potential failure modes, stress concentrations, deformation and other performance concerns through simulation.
• Correlate simulation results with physical test data where applicable.
• Prepare technical reports documenting simulation methodology, assumptions, results and conclusions.
• Work closely with design and engineering teams to optimize component geometry, material selection and performance.
• Support root cause analysis of product or field failures using simulation techniques.
• Participate in design reviews and provide technical inputs based on simulation results.
• Maintain simulation models, analysis data and technical documentation.
• Support continuous improvement of simulation methodologies and engineering processes.

Required Skills / What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Production Engineering or a related discipline.
• Relevant experience in FEA Engineering Simulation.
• Strong understanding of Finite Element Analysis principles and structural mechanics.
• Hands-on experience with one or more FEA/CAE tools such as:
• ANSYS
• Abaqus
• HyperMesh
• LS-DYNA
• Nastran
• Other relevant CAE/FEA software
• Experience with meshing, boundary conditions, loading conditions, solver setup and post-processing.
• Knowledge of material properties, stress, strain, deformation and failure analysis.
• Ability to interpret and communicate simulation results effectively.
• Experience in automotive or auto-components manufacturing is preferred.
• Good analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with automotive component simulation and validation.
• Experience with structural, fatigue, thermal, vibration or nonlinear analysis.
• Experience correlating FEA results with physical testing.
• Knowledge of product development processes such as APQP, DFMEA/PFMEA and PPAP.
• Experience working with engineering drawings, GD&T and product specifications.
