They blend artistic vision with market trends to create functional, aesthetically pleasing products, managing the entire lifecycle from initial sketches and fabric selection to final production and presentation.Core ResponsibilitiesTrend Research: Analyze retail market research, consumer preferences, and runway shows to forecast upcoming fashion trends and themes.Design & Sketching: Develop mood boards and create design concepts using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software or freehand sketching.Material Sourcing: Select and test fabrics, colors, patterns, and trims, balancing aesthetic appeal with cost-efficiency and production feasibility.Technical Specifications: Create detailed tech packs and clothing patterns to communicate construction and sizing specs to manufacturers.Prototyping & Fitting: Oversee the creation of prototype samples and conduct fittings on models or dress forms to refine the fit and construction.Production Management: Collaborate with pattern makers, textile manufacturers, and overseas vendors to ensure final products align with brand identity and deadlines.Key Skills & QualificationsArtistic & Creative Ability: A keen eye for color, texture, shape, and a strong foundation in fashion illustration.Technical Knowledge: Understanding of garment construction, pattern drafting, grading, and textiles.Digital Proficiency: Expertise in design programs like Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or 3D design software (e.g., CLO3D).Communication: Ability to effectively convey design details to production teams and stakeholders.Education: Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Fine Arts, or a related field.
