About the Role
We are seeking a Fashion Designer & Merchandiser who combines strong design sensibilities with strong commercial understanding. The ideal candidate must have prior hands-on experience with an e-commerce women's westernwear brand, and be adept at curating collections, sourcing fabrics, devloping cost sheets and managing sampling through to final product execution.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign & Collection Development
- Develop seasonal and monthly collections aligned with brand vision, trend research, and consumer insights.
- Create mood boards, design concepts, tech packs, and detailed garment specifications.
- Maintain consistency of silhouette, fit, and quality across categories.
Sampling & Product Development
- Oversee end-to-end sampling, from initial sketch to final approved sample.
- Coordinate with pattern masters, tailors, and vendors to ensure samples meet design, fit, and quality standards.
- Review sample iterations, provide corrections, and ensure timely approvals for production.
Merchandising & Planning
- Analyze sales data and trends specific to e-commerce to guide assortment planning.
- Collaborate with production and buying teams for smooth product drops and timely launches.
- Understand pricing, margins, and product life cycle to ensure commercial viability in an e-commerce setup.
Fabric & Vendor Sourcing
- Source fabrics, trims, and materials that meet brand quality and cost expectations.
- Build and maintain relationships with mills, suppliers, and manufacturers.
- Negotiate costs, manage sampling materials, and finalize fabric selections.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work with production to ensure seamless transition from sample to bulk.
- Brief marketing teams for photoshoots to ensure accurate product representation for e-commerce platforms.
- Track market trends, competitor activity, and emerging styles in the women's westernwear space.
Requirements
- Mandatory: Prior experience with an e-commerce women's westernwear brand.
- Strong expertise in collection curation, fabric sourcing, and sampling management.
- Solid understanding of garment construction, fits, silhouettes, and trims.
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator / Photoshop or similar design tools.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable in a fast-paced, drop-driven environment.
- Existing vendor and fabric sourcing network is a plus.
