Faculty positions in Public Health

We invite applications from academics and experienced practitioners for faculty positions in Public Health.

Azim Premji University, Bhopal, started operations in August 2023, offering postgraduate and undergraduate programmes. The first phase of campus construction is complete and the overall 50-acre campus with state-of-the-art academic and residential facilities will be ready over the next few years. We expect to grow to about 4000 students and 500 members over the next few years.

In addition to teaching in our programmes, we offer faculty an enriching and fulfilling institution building experience encompassing interdisciplinary programme design, setting up and implementation of key institutional processes, culture building, and participation in various institutional bodies. The University encourages and offers support to faculty members for pursuing their own research.

We are particularly interested in candidates who are committed to teaching, research, and practice in the areas of:

• Large scale Government programs and health systems
• Intersectoral aspects of health
• Social determinants of health and health equity
• Social science perspectives in health including social determinants of health and health equity

Faculty members at the University are expected to engage in designing courses, teaching, mentoring students, research, engaging with public health practice, public writing and policy work.

Requirements:

We are looking for:

• Expertise and experience in diverse dimensions of public health teaching, research or practice
• Capacity to be reflective and think critically
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Orientation towards collaborative work
• Willingness to engage with a diverse student body
• Experience of ground-up policy development work is desirable
• For academics, an advanced degree in relevant field
• For experienced practitioners: Field experience of more than 10 years and a post-graduate degree (or equivalent) in any relevant field
