Faculty Positions in Biology

We invite applications for faculty positions in Biology, specialising in Ecology, Evolutionary Biology and/ or Biodiversity Conservation for our Undergraduate Programmes.

Azim Premji University, Bhopal, started operations in August 2023, offering postgraduate and undergraduate programmes. The first phase of campus construction is complete and the overall 50-acre campus with state-of-the-art academic and residential facilities will be ready over the next few years. We expect to grow to about 4000 students and 500 members over the next few years.

In addition to teaching in our programmes, we offer faculty an enriching and fulfilling institution building experience encompassing interdisciplinary programme design, setting up and implementation of key institutional processes, culture building, and participation in various institutional bodies. The University encourages and offers support to faculty members for pursuing their own research.

We seek applicants who identify with the purpose of the University, and are keen to contribute to the design, development and delivery of courses of interest and expertise across the undergraduate BSc (Hons.) Biology programme.

We are particularly interested in:

• Ecology candidates with specialisation in areas including but not limited to community & population ecology, behavioral ecology, theoretical ecology, spatial ecology
• Evolutionary biologists with experience in experimental evolutionary biology, population biology, systematics
• Conservation biologists with expertise in ecological theories, quantitative research methods, restoration ecology, political ecology, and field techniques.
• Conservation technology competencies, including but not limited to, environmental impact assessment, wildlife monitoring systems, geospatial analysis, remote sensing, machine learning for conservation, environmental DNA, biodiversity informatics

Requirements:

• Expertise and experience in at least one of the areas listed above. Candidates whose expertise traverses multiple areas mentioned above will be preferred.
• A relevant advanced degree in Ecology/ Evolutionary Biology/ Biodiversity Science/ Conservation Biology/ Zoology/ Botany
• Prior teaching experience is preferable.
• Minimum 5 – 7 years of post PhD research/ teaching experience will be preferred.
• An active research agenda with the ability and interest to teach a diverse classroom.
