Role OverviewThe Factory Manager will be responsible for overseeing end-to-end factory operations at Modular Story, ensuring efficient production of modular furniture with high quality, on-time delivery, and optimal resource utilization. This role demands strong leadership, process orientation, and a deep understanding of furniture manufacturing workflows.
Key Responsibilities1. Production Management- Plan and execute daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules
- Ensure timely completion of projects (modular furniture, loose furniture, custom pieces)
- Monitor production output vs targets and take corrective actions
2. Team Leadership- Manage and supervise factory teams (carpentry, modular assembly, polishing, hardware fitting, etc.)
- Allocate manpower effectively across projects
- Train and mentor supervisors and workers
- Drive discipline, accountability, and productivity on the shop floor
3. Quality Control- Ensure all products meet Modular Story quality standards
- Implement quality checkpoints at each stage (cutting, edge banding, assembly, polishing)
- Minimize rework and defects
4. Process & Workflow Optimization- Improve factory processes for efficiency and cost reduction
- Implement SOPs for all production activities
- Optimize machine usage and reduce downtime
5. Material & Inventory Management- Coordinate with procurement for timely availability of raw materials
- Monitor inventory levels (boards, laminates, hardware, polish materials)
- Reduce wastage and control material costs
6. Coordination with Design & Projects Team- Work closely with designers and project managers to understand drawings and specifications
- Ensure production aligns with design intent and site requirements
- Resolve technical issues proactively
7. Machine & Facility Management- Ensure proper maintenance of machinery (panel saw, edge bander, CNC, etc.)
- Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organization of the factory
8. Cost & Productivity Control- Monitor production costs and identify cost-saving opportunities
- Improve labor productivity and machine efficiency
9. Health & Safety Compliance- Enforce safety standards and protocols
- Ensure safe working conditions for all employees
10. Reporting & MIS- Maintain daily production reports
- Track KPIs: output, efficiency, wastage, delays, rework
- Report performance to management regularly
Key Skills & Requirements- 5–10+ years experience in furniture manufacturing / modular factory operations
- Strong knowledge of modular furniture production processes
- Experience handling factory teams and multiple projects
- Familiarity with machines like panel saw, CNC, edge bander
- Good understanding of drawings (2D/3D – preferably Spazio or similar)
- Strong leadership and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
