Job Title: Facility Manager (Infrastructure)

Job Category: Project Staff

Institute: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay

About the Project:

This Government-funded project focuses on developing advanced drone and allied technologies. It involves setting up and managing research labs, technical workspaces, and infrastructure to support project activities, testing, and training programs. The role involves setting up and managing state-of-the-art drone research labs, testing facilities, and technical workspaces, along with supporting training and ecosystem development activities.

Qualification & Experience:

  • MTech / ME or equivalent degree with relevant experience OR
  • BTech / BE or equivalent degree with relevant experience
  • 4–7 years of experience in facility management / infrastructure / office or lab setup
  • Experience in technical environments, R&D labs, or similar projects will be an added advantage

Key Skills Required:

  • Experience in office and lab setup, infrastructure planning, and execution.
  • Hands-on experience in setting up new offices or centers from scratch, including infrastructure readiness, safety requirements, and essential facilities.
  • Basic understanding of technical drawings, layouts, electrical and civil work.
  • Hands-on experience in vendor management, procurement, and coordination.
  • Knowledge of facility maintenance, AMC handling, and basic compliance.
  • Experience in inventory management and asset tracking.
  • Ability to coordinate with technical teams, contractors, and internal departments.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day facility operations and ensure smooth functioning of office and lab spaces
  • Support infrastructure setup, including workspace planning, lab setup, and equipment installation
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams for execution of work
  • Handle procurement activities, vendor follow-ups, and basic negotiations
  • Maintain inventory, asset records, and documentation
  • Ensure facility maintenance, cleanliness, and basic safety compliance
  • Support lab requirements, including readiness of equipment and consumables
  • Track ongoing work, timelines, and report progress
  • Take ownership of assigned facility tasks, handling activities from planning to completion with accountability
