Fabric Technologist (Apparel)

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with customers, vendors, and internal teams throughout the fabric development process, from concept to bulk production.
• Manage fabric sourcing, development, approvals, testing, and quality assurance to ensure customer requirements are met.
• Provide technical expertise on woven and knitted fabrics, including weaving, knitting, dyeing, finishing, and printing processes.
• Collaborate with fabric mills to identify innovative fabric solutions and resolve technical challenges.
• Lead fabric cost negotiations and support sourcing strategies to achieve competitive pricing.
• Monitor fabric performance, testing results, compliance requirements, and quality standards.
• Troubleshoot fabric-related issues and drive timely corrective actions.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Textile Technology or a related discipline.
• 4-8 years of relevant experience in fabric sourcing, development, or textile merchandising.
• Strong technical knowledge of woven and knitted fabrics, including dyeing, finishing, and printing processes.
• Hands-on experience in fabric development, approvals, testing, quality control, and issue resolution.
• Previous experience working in a buying office/buying house environment.
• Established network and knowledge of fabric mills across North India.
• Proven experience in fabric cost analysis and price negotiation.
• Good understanding of colour management, testing protocols, and compliance requirements.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage customers and suppliers effectively.
• Fluent in written and spoken English
